Hi guys,
I posted here late last year about my uncle's passing and part of my inheritance is a Snap-on Epiq toolbox full of tools.
In looking at things, I just don't have the room for a toolbox that size and moving it from Cleveland to Omaha is proving to be a major pain. So I'm going to take the smaller upright toolbox and all of the tools in the snap-on box.
So I'm looking for some ideas on a charity or a young mechanic that is getting into the field that would be interested in something like this. I would much rather it be the source of something good then selling it for the value.
So looking for some ideas. So if you have something in mind, let me know. It's in Medina now.
Mike

Near Columbus is a Wrenching charity called Genius Garage. They may take it or know someone who is going through their system that would really appreciate it.
Regardless of how it gets there, that will set up a young mechanic in a major way. I imagine your uncle would be pleased with you helping a fellow wrench.

I'd rather it be lit on fire before it being given to the genius garage. I cannot stand Casey Putsch for a multitude of reasons. The biggest reason is him using the charity for his own benefit more than anything else. Going to an up and coming mechanic would be alot more beneficial than a rich guy with a 501c personal racing team.

How about looking on Marketplace for project cars. Pick out someone that obviously is a young gearhead and showing up with the toolbox.

Hey Patrick. I'll text you later today. My uncle owned a diesel repair facility so that may be a great fit. It'll be a 719 number.
Cabbagecop, That's another great one too. I like me a coop motorcycle shop. What a cool idea.
I do but he just bought a toolbox.... looks just like the used Matco box I bought in 1997 for $1000.... he paid $600

Understood. I do not know him, or know anything of his background. I followed him on YouTube because he was building cool projects for a bit and on the surface the charity seemed like it was trying to do a good thing. That said I no longer follow him for . . Reasons, and never did find anything out in the real world about work the charity did. Also his purpose seems to have moved on from just doing cool stuff with cars.
I appreciate and will trust your more experienced opinion on the matter and avoid further suggestions of that organization. It hard to know what's going on with things you just see what they market you to see, and as I said I haven't followed them for about 2 years.
