Headed home last night, about 6:25. I 95 in Ft. Lauderdale. Traffic was moving quite well, and then came to a complete stop. Look in my mirror, and the car behind me is coming too fast. Oh E36 M3, this is going to hurt!! In those two or three seconds, I tensed up totally, held onto the steering wheel, heard the car skidding, and then the impact. It was a very light tap. Not a scratch, not even a clean spot on my bumper! We both pulled off to examine the damage, and there was none. Driver of the other car was a young blonde girl who was literally shaking. Looked at both cars, nothing. OK, let's go home now. Pulling back out onto 95 and almost got creamed by another inattentive driver. I was very glad to get home.

My commute is 24 miles, all on 95. Can take 30 minutes to over an hour, depending on the current level of stupid. I like the job, will never move to Boca where the office is, so I'm basically stuck with it. Oh well, at least it's entertaining!

You're lucky man, I've had that happen twice but I was on the receiving end of a shunt both times. Civics AMD Neons do not fare well against an F150.

I normally see 3 to 5 fender benders every day. Not much in major chaos. But these will totally screw up traffic flow. I monitor traffic reports to try to see what to expect, but they prove to be wildly inaccurate.

Glad you are OK.

Something to be aware of is how dangerous it is to get out of the car and examine accident damage on the side of an interstate. People are visually attracted to the scene of the accident, and since people drive where their eyes are fixed, there are many examples of rubberneckers joining the original accident. Often fatally. We just has such a fatality near me about a week ago. I would hate to dodge one bullet and get taken out by another!

Now that you mention that, we recently had that happen on Alligator Alley. Car hit a bear (!!), pulled off. Following car pulled off, three got out and were killed by another car.

Very glad to hear that you are ok cwh, I hope your luck holds out! I have had some close calls lately, due to inattentive and aggressive drivers. Driving this time of year makes me so edgy.

Our IT director was recently hit by a guy that was texting. IT guy saw what he was doing, then got hit. Heavy damage to car but none to people. Other driver denied he was doing it, but his phone blew his alibi. Kid was luckier that he realized. Our techy has a Latin temper and always carries.
