Truly, I do not understand. Even here, where most have a very positive DIY mentality--people trust their coffee to someone else? Would you take your treasured E36 M3 (the BMW, not the excrement) to Jiffy Lube for an oil change? C'mon people! Good coffee is easy to make yourself. Buy a coffeemaker of your choice--even the fancy ones are generally under a hundred bucks--buy some quality whole bean coffee from Costco or Sam's, and grind yer own beans!

I love me some coffee. Work won't let us have our own coffee makers, but they sell Seattle's Best in the cafeteria and it is only a dollar if you bring your own mug... Mine is 34oz, and it is from the company store so they can't say squat I'm thinking about getting a French Press for the cube though, seeing as we do get free hot water.

As far as what I use at home, mostly a Kirkland (Costco) pre-ground. Good enough for me. I just bought a bottle of Kahlua, and it was one of those holiday packages that came with a free gift. This one was a small bag of coffee, and I have to say it is pretty good.

For on the go, Dunkin Donuts is my favorite, but you cannot beat McD's at $1.00 for the biggest one they have.

For what to put in it, I'm not too picky. I'll drink it black, I like it a little better with a little cream or milk, Kahlua when I can, if you put too much cream in it I'm okay with that too. No sugar please, but I still won't complain about it.
I've never had Irish cream, I might need to explore some Bailey's or Carolans or the Aldi equivelent. Any thoughts?

My wife loves her French Press. I think coffee tastes like acidic swill.

Try an Aeropress for great coffee, much better than the french press and easier to clean.

My everyday coffee is the German Roast Grandessa coffee from Aldi. Coffee is another thing that the Germans do very well.

It's a local convenience store, a la 7-11, but typically much cleaner, bigger. Most of them now are gas stations as well. Started in PA, but now are in NJ, DE, MD and a few other mid-Atlanic states. Local reputation (and they market) is they have outstanding coffee. Personally, I'm fine with it, but don't find it much different than Dunkin Donuts, etc...

Overall, very timely. This morning I had exceptionally bad coffee at a diner. I should have trusted my instincts when this 24hr place was not busy at 9:10am.

I do love me some Bailey's but I recommend to avoid the Aldi version; I hated it, actually never drank more than one serving. Theirs is a wine based product, not a whisky based product (I later discovered.)
Sure, wine and artificial flavors vs. whisky and artificial flavors...it is likely more about the artificial flavors but I thought the Aldi brand was bad.

OTOH, Aldi's Doughnut Store Whole Bean coffee (at $3.99 a 12oz bag) is very good "grind yourself" stuff. My other go-to is 8 o'clock brand 100% Colombian Whole Bean. A couple years back, it won Consumer Reports "Best Value". Target and Walmart seem to have it everyday at $4.99.

My understanding is that your sink (your plumbing) likes the mildly acidic coffee grounds. I just rinse my espresso grounds out of the basket in the sink every time...

Good to know. That does not sound appetizing to me. What about the Carolans (sp?) at the grocery store? That is typically about half the price of Bailey's.

Carolans is still whisky based. Far better than that Aldi swill but I still favor Bailey's

Carolans isn't quite as good as Bailey's but Bailey's sure isn't worth twice as much.

Wife bought a Keurig Coffee Maker 2 months ago. I was expecting some slow gimmicky machine making crappy coffee.

I was wrong. Tasty and fast. She has 100 rack gambit of different brands, tastes, and strengths. It is pretty cool, I am surprised. No measuring, no adding water, etc. Just push a button and coffee in less than a minute.

I refuse to buy a Keurig because I figure it's for hipsters. But my S-I-L made an excellent cup of joe with one for me to travel home with after turkey day.

I don't drink coffee much, that is, I can go months without a cup to drinking some 3 days in a row. My preferred method is the french drip, Vietnamese Cafe Su Da style. Metal canister that you place on top of a glass, load with some coffee, screw the press plate down and add hot water. Oh yeah, theres sweetened condensed milk in the glass and pour the whole thing over ice.

Always Cafe Du Monde from New Orleans. Cost Plus World Market and Fresh & Easy seem to stock it locally, used to have to go to the Asian markets or Chinatown to find it.
