::Rant on::

For the 4th time after cancelling my TV service, I have been double billed on internet and for a modem rental that I returned. The last 4 bills I have had to call and have my bill corrected. This time though, I'm cancelling all service! How hard is it for them to change service for a customer? Is their software that difficult that they cannot uncheck TV and leave internet? WTF?!?!?!

are you going to at least tell the manager / his/her boss why they lost a customer ?

I've spoken to customer support enough times now that they ought to know. If/when I get a bill next month, I will be going up several levels of "customer loyalty support".

I had nothing but problems with Comcast. Slow service, tv always going out, billing problems, the whole 9.

I don't miss paying for TV services. OTA and Streaming works fantastic with my VDSL connection

Only problem I've had with them is recently they blacked out some of the channels on my line-up. Including BBC America. I haven't watched an episode of Top Gear in like two months. That was the only reason to watch a channel above the basic 72 that they offer. I'm paying $160 a month for internet and 200 some odd channels ( movies, HD, music, etc) I'm thinking of changing my plan and going with the basic 72 and saving myself $50 a month.

Why is Comcast the only company that gets bashed on here? I hear all the same exact horror stories with AT&T, Dish, DirectTV, Verizon, Cox, Charter, Mediacom, TimeWarner, Hughes, etc., everywhere else, but no one ever elaborates on this board. They are not the only TV/Internet/Phone provider in the country.

I've had their service for 8 years and the only issue I ever had was a couple of bad cable boxes. I get tiling every once in a while, but nothing that's knocked out my service.

I had more issues with AT&T, DirectTV, and Dish than I've had with Comcast.

In reply to SyntheticBlinkerFluid:

Comcast is the only hard wired cable internet available in my area. I know people who have no issues with them. I have had the opposite experience. I am just fed up with the constant issues that I have had, so I dropped them.

You have every right to get rid of a service that isn't working for you.

Who is the local phone company? They should provide DSL service.

When I had Comcast, it was only for internet and I went out and bought the modem. Never an issue with them. Never figured out the whole leasing a $50 thingie for $5/month. I can see if it is a temporary situation, but I never have been fickle as a feather in the wind for change either.

Thank god I can only get one service here in Hillbilly Hell, the service is excellent and the Customer Service is exemplary. I heart Broadstripe.

I had Comcast, when they said $5 a month for a $50 modem I said not no but HELL no. So I bought one, a Motorola SurfBoard. The now ex Ms Curmudgeon paid the cable bill each month and so I never saw it

Then one day the int3rw3b went down and I called them. They pinged me, said it was a problem with the modem. Okay, crap happens, it was ~3 1/2 years old. So I went down and bought another one, by now they are ~$65. I hooked it up and called to give them the new MAC address, the girl says 'when are you going to return the other modem?' and I said 'never, I bought it'. It turned out that I had been renting my own freakin' modem for 3 1/2 years. I of course got into high dudgeon and demanded a refund. They nicely refunded me 6 months rental. Whoop de frickin' doo.

Icing on the cake? The other modem is just fine. Turned out it was a Windows update which furschnorkeled the Motorola program which ran the modem, when I got the new one naturally I used the new install disc and unknowingly wrote over the program problem with the original. So now I have two good modems.

Me neither. We've had a few outages here and there, but they're always quick to respond and typically credit your account for the time out of service.

It took me 7 years before they fixed the problem of corroded underground cable. I told them what it was from day 1 but I'm just a dumb customer.

Guy lied to me when I signed up. Told me I would get on demand. Turns out on demand is not even possible with the package I have.

But the interwebs are really fast. Much faster than the dsl I had.

Yea, they suck. Possibly the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. And that's saying something, considering I used to own a Gateway PC.

I am much happier now with splitting Fios internet with my neighbor, Netflix streaming and DVDs in the mail, and a $6 homemade antenna for local programming.

had that same problem with comcrap. Everytime the weather made a drastic temp change, I would lose internet. in talking to my neighbors.. everybody on my street was losing internet and VOIP. Everyday you would see the contractor trucks coming by to fix the problem.

I finally brought it up with the lady over the phone and was told "if there was a problem, the computer would tell us"

then a car accident took down a couple of poles down the street.. and all has been fine ever since

Actually, Comcast does rate very near the bottom of the heap for cable TV and internet services according to the usual gatherers of that sort of information, such as Consumer Reports.

My experience with them has been pretty much faultless however. The cable never goes out, and I've had their very fast cable internet for over 5 years now, and it never goes down. My only quibble is that it's a tad bit expensive.

It's a good thing, because they're the only game in town. DSL is not available to me, nor is FIOS or any other service other than satellite, and I'm not going down that road.

I had them in the late 90's early 2ks and never had a prob... then again they also had a sub $10 sub basic cable package (TV only)... that had like 12 channels or so (a roof mount antenna couldn't do that in the area)... we found that if we removed the box they provided it gave us full basic cable + HBO... all for about $6 a month...

dad added internet when it became avl and it was good... but that was early addoption days...

all that being said I haven't had them sense... but my step mom did work as a Comcast customer service rep for a few months... of the 20 people in her class only 4 made it though training (mostly because of how badly the remote network setup was... had to have 10-15 applications open at all times via a very bad VPN... apparently as comcast bought new markets they never changed the software connected to that markets system... crazy stupid stuff
