Been using since I was a kid in the 60s/70s. Never heard of the drug relationship. My dad used it and we're Bostonians. Beantown?
My aunts were saying it when I was a kid on Long Island. None of them were from Ohio.
Definately heard it here in NC, may be guilty of saying it too.
