I got to touch the Stanley cup last Friday. One of the coolest experiences of my life. I just figured I would share.

I'm jealous. That is by far the coolest of all professional sports trophy's.

I would rather touch the America's cup... A LOT more history behind it

I thought you wrote that you touched Stanleys cup! We got it here when Erik Cole(Hurricanes) brought it to his hometown. It is cool to touch!

They brought it to Huntsville to celebrate 30 years of UAH hockey.

I love that they let the Stanley Cup go out into the public. It's been everywhere. It's too bad that it can't talk.

Of course, it would probably call radiators "Rads". Ugh.

My buddy years ago worked at a photo develope place, and he said it was amazing all the places it would turn up. Totally random, just developing a roll, and there would be a few shots of the cup, right out of nowhere.

Hmmm what size cup does Stanley wear? I'm hoping you're female if touching Stanley's cup gets you all excited.

There are two cups. The replica one that they let out in public and the "real" one, that's kept in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

You do realize of course that now you will never win it

I thought about that when I was up at the HHoF in Toronto, then remembered that I was over 30, overweight, and haven't been on ice skates in over 20 years...

Last fall, they had it out for an early season game at Yost, were we got our photo with it. Picture two fans with Michigan jersies, hats, etc- at the front of our arena, with the cup. Sweet. Used it for Chirstmas cards for those who would know what it was....

(too bad UAH isn't going to join the CCHA any time soon... - I know the fans would accept you guys)

I'd love to see it, too, especially since I've sailed on US 55 and 56, both of which were used in Austrailia to get the Cup back to the US. (they are both named Stars and Stripes- and I've sailed on Canada II (KC2) and True North (KC87)). One of the best things to do on St. Maarten.

And I'm a huge fan of the America's Cup.

But, to me, the Stanley Cup has a lot more in it.

Very cool. When I was in my 20s, I tended bar in a restaurant owned by Gary and Rick Green the year the Montreal Canadians won the cup. It sat behind the bar all night, it really neat despite the fact that I'm not a hockey fan.

I wish we were too. I still have no idea why none of the conferences took us.

Can't you get your citizenship revoked for saying such things?
