Don't mess with the cops in Mexico!

Can't even go to Baja and Surf!

Don't Vacation in Mexico!

Mexico crime wave hits Calderon's approval rating

Mass anti-crime rallies in Mexico

Fairfield councilman, 22, in critical condition after being shot multiple times Considered by many to be Mexican Gang-related.

Obviously this a small number of incidents among a much larger percentage of the people who travel to Mexico for vacation, business, etc I seem to remember someone on the old board mentioning that we should be more concerned about Mexico and South America than we are about the Middle East. On some levels I agree. Mexico and many of the other nations below us are hostile towards us, whether by their actions and/or by their words. Panama controls the canal and could make life very difficult for the world by shutting down the canal. Venezuala is ruled by a certified nut-job and he likes to think he's important because of his control over their oil fields. At least the oil-barons in the Middle East are usually smart enough to know that they need us as bad as we need them.

I wonder how much of this needs to happen before the American Consulate notices and begins to notify people to not visit Mexico, etc. If the Tourism faded out of Mexico, etc How long before anarchy truly set in? Of course if we could actually defend the border and properly change the laws to make it easier to legally enter the US then perhaps we could let the tempest swirl around in their own fishbowl a bit and provide help once the people are actually helping themselves.

I'd much prefer to help someone who has shown they are willing to do the work necessary to help themselves, is willing to ask when they need help. Than someone who just expects someone to come along and help and is unhappy when they don't get that help.

These types of events aren't as isolated an event as you think. I quit going to Mexico about 10 years ago because of issues like this and making it easier to come to the US won't stop it, it will only make it spread faster to the US.

One reason why people have gone to Mexico is that it is cheap, that is not true anymore. With the value of the dollar I think the prices of things are pretty much the same now.

I do find it funny when people bring back stuff they bought in Mexico, being in LA you can buy the same crap down at the Thrifty! Besides it all comes from China and Indonesia anyway!

I'm in the export business. There are two places I don't deal with. Mexico and Haiti. Not too fond of Jamaica, either. I know where I'm not wanted, where my life if no big deal, so I'll stay away, thank you very much.
