My wife is a jam maker - the freezer is full of cut strawberries and raspberries that we picked, just waiting for slightly cooler weather to be turned into jam.
She's currently working through the bumper crop of cherry tomatoes from the plants that have gone nuts in our garden, turning them into a jarred roasted tomato spread that's quite tasty. (photo credit to my wife)
I don't think she's paid for any new jars yet this year - there are a lot of empties from previous years' jam batches...

I understand preference. Why do you complain about the cost? It is what it is.

Because it's almost 50% higher this year over last year. But in all fairness I failed to shop for canning jars and paid double what they cost last year. That's on me.
But peaches and cucumbers ( for pickles ) are double. ( at least local farmers are getting help with inflation).
Yes I agree that it is what it is. Hey, ya gotta expect such grumbling from an old Geezer. I honestly remember working in the fields for 35 cents an hour.
Over here in Northeast CT we're at ~11/dozen for corn from our favorite little farm stand. It's about half that, maybe a bit more at the grocery store, but it's not local. Whatcha gonna do?

That is your specific choice, so you are complaining of your choice, not the actual cost of corn. You can change that whenever you want.
