Wow. Went looking to see what TT250's were selling for. Found a picture of my bike, in my driveway, that the guy took yesterday while I was washing it. Guy didn't even attempt to change the town he was listing it in
Gets all snotty in his listing about scammers even.
I flagged it, but if there's any way to specifically say anything to craigslist about it, I don't see it.
Wonder if he's planning to come back and steal it if someone says they will buy it.
Thats wierd & creepy
Contact the seller and pose as a buyer to see what happens?
CL can be really wierd, a few weeks ago when I posted a car for sale on CL, I had emails from multiple (sterotypical, possibly foreign) scammers in the first hour!
I've seen people post a listing that states something like, "Don't deal with XXXX selling XXXX. They are scammers, etc..." That's what I'd do.

Yeah, this. I'd be a little worried as it was a photo of YOUR bike at YOUR house that HE took! that he claims he's selling. Ask for an address!

THIS
Tell him you definitely want to buy the bike and want to hand him whatever "deposit" he's looking for in person at a nearby gas station, then ride the bike there

I would let the police know and tell them you are gonna try and meet the guy and see what they say.

^^That. Or something similar.
I wouldn't let this one drop. Guy knows where you live
In all seriousness, what do you think he is going to do with this info? I doubt he is just trying to do an over the internet payment, he may be trying to get someone to meet him with cash and rob them. I'd let the cops know, between that and him knowing where you live, it isn't a good thing.
Yeah, that sounds like something to let the cops know about. If it was just a pic stolen from online than id say yeah try messing with him, but thats a bit scary.
it can't hurt to get the police involved
Cops won't care until there's a crime. You can talk to them, but they won't do anything.
Well, he is commiting fraud. He's listing an item for sale he doesn't own.
Since it's your bike in your driveway at your house, call everyone you can think of, local cops, state cops, State Attorney General, maybe even the local FBI field office/ resident agency. I think that just using the internet for this kind of stuff can get this guy in federal court.
Get it documented w/ the PD, call it 'suspicious activity' or whatever, but get the report filed. If something criminal should happen you're ahead of the curve in covering your ass. Buy a 870 pump gun JIC.

GUYS your wayyyy over-reacting.
This dude is trying to flip the bike. He knows its worth something, and wants to see if there is any interest in it before he buys it.
I've done this before (though not on Craigslist) where I've listed merchandise I wanted to buy for sale in order to see if I could make a quick and easy $500 flipping it.
Yeah, but do you take pictures of it in someone else's driveway and use those pics to post it? Kind of a difference there.
In any case, make sure you're keeping your bike secure. Flipping stolen bikes via craigslist is extremely common.
Go to pound and get the meanest looking dog you can find and leave him with the bike.

How did he contact you? Email? Phone?
I'd just send him an email saying "will buy bike for lots of money".
He'll then show up, purchase your motorcycle, and proceed to try and sell it...and wont.
Or, if he tries to steal it, you'll be ready.

How did you come this conclusion? Foxtrapper never said that he was selling his bike, or that it was listed for sale.
I would absolutely try to set up a meeting just to see if I could figure out who the asshat was from info during the exchange. I'd contact the authorities but I also might pin the ad to his door with a little note that just says "Your death will be exquisite".

Well if someone was snapping pictures of me washing my bike that I didn't have listed for sale..yeah I'd be a bit concerned.
I'm not making any suggestions, but it smells fishy.
