I've generally supported her from an EO prospective, I think good drivers are good drivers and sex shouldn't have any matter in it, but I've never really jumped on the hype around Danica.
I am very sad to report, that after watching her dismal performance in person this weekend, I don't know that I think she belongs at the level she is at with Indy. As a driver she has terrible throttle control and brake feel. I spent a lot of time watching from turns 1-3 this weekend, and I think what I observed was very telling of her result. Here is what I saw:
- Coming out of turn 1, she consistently used less of the road (but a foot or more) and carried less speed out.
- When entering turn 2, she entered the corner too fast and over used the brakes. Further, when the corner changes from uphill to down, she didn't modulate the brakes for the weight transfer and typically locked up the inside front tire.
- From mid-turn to turn out, she would blip the throttle repeatedly to increase speed. EVERY other driver gradually added more throttle as they unwound the steering wheel.
Maybe that is why Danica wants to run more oval tracks?
Simona De Silvestro showed a much more consistent driving style, although her pace was a bit off and the race seemed to go away from her.

It goes as far as the sponsorship dollars take it!

She has the talent to go far in IRL, but needs good equipment. In Atlantics last year she almost won the championship, it all went away at the last race in Laguna Seca. She, Edwards and Summerton had the most wins (4 each) and most podiums (9 each). The three of them essentially dominated the entire season, and it was quite a season to watch.
I have not ever had anything good to say about Danica. The twice times that I have met her, I was even more disenchanted.

I think all of us who witnessed the '05 Indy will agree with this. Especially the four drivers she took out coming off a yellow flag.
I've noticed similar driving problems, just on TV. And she's got an abysmal personality. She, NASCAR, and Tony Stewart are a match.
Stop. You guys would boink a snake if could find someone to hold its head, of course she's hot.
She is a little moody....
I've never found her hot. She's got an ugly personality and it's all over her face. The rest of the package isn't all that amazing or wonderful imo, and certainly not worth the hype.
No, she's something I could turn down quite easily.
she's a hack. I'm not aware of any other pro driver who's spun/crashed in the pits as many times as she has.

I'm with Foxy on this.
She seems to try a bit to hard to be one of the boys. Plus she has no upper lip, kinda creepy and will likely end up "playing for our team" before everything is all said and done.

You can't motorboat personality.
Then again she doesn't have much to motorboat otherwise.
I didn't get to go even though I had tickets, but a friend of mine did that's a professional racer. He basically said that Simona De Silvestro was the ONLY driver running flat through the kink as was very impressed with her everywhere. He does not give out compliments like that very easily.
On the other side, he thought Danica was mediocre at best, and that Milka should have been selling programs at the gate. Of course he's raced against Milka a number of times and already had that opinion.
She's a midpack driver in a second-tier series. I'm very doubtful that she'll have much success in NASCAR. But she is most certainly hot. Some of you must need glasses.

Danica's hot, but that doesn't mean I want her celebrating on my podium. Long ago she reached the "somewhere, someone is REALLY tired of her E36 M3" status.

Well my podium is well taken care of, so I don't care who's personally tired of her E36 M3 or how mediocre a driver she is, as long as she's in the limelight and people keep taking provocative pictures I'm happy :)
Don't forget that in NASCAR, they have the "ability" to play with the cars so a mid pack second tier mediocre driver can somehow finish quite near the front anytime it looks like there might be more money in that happening. Yellows at "just the right time," "We ain't a gonna be lookin' too close at yer car after this race," etc. "Gosh, ah recon' that there restricter plate musta got sucked through da engine...."
boy the worm has turned for Danica on this board for sure.
