This finally prompted me to order the bluetooth module. It should be here 4/20, $28 to my door. Then I can tether to my blackberry and be on the web anywhere. I still can't decide if that's a good or bad thing...

I have the 16gb Super Talent drive in mine, seems to be working great. It doesn't seem to have any speed issues, but of course I have no reference - the 4gb STEC had Ubuntu on it and the Super Talent has only had OSX on it. The Runcores are 40% more expensive if you could get them at all, which you can't. So I'm happy with it.
I am on DellEFI 1.1, if I have any more issues I may look into downgrading as well.
I know there are some touchpad drivers out there that enable some two finger magic, but if you are talking about the one I have seen I think there have been a lot of complaint about erratic behavior as well. I don't want anything complicated, two finger scroll or emulating multitouch probably isn't going to work well anyway, but a scroll zone on the side of the pad just like the Linux install had would be perfect. Of course, my dad just plugs in a mouse whenever he uses his so he doesn't care (I tell him this sort of defeats the purpose of the thing, but he just won't use a trackpad).
Tommy - yeah, I know I can jailbreak it and make that work, but for some reason I am reluctant to do that. I can't really explain it, it's not that I care about EULAs (obviously, given the point of this thread), but I have resisted to this point and I really like the way the phone works, so I don't want to mess with it in a non-apple-prescribed way.
how big is the SSD? Unless it's a 32GB, PASS!
I paid $153 shipped for a basic 4gb SSD/512k ram/Ubuntu Mini9 from dell outlet a few weeks ago. Then I spent another $60 on a 16gb SSD and 2gb of ram for it, put OSX on it, and gave it to Mom for mother's day. She loves it :).
I might just have a valid 15% off Inspiron code for dell outlet if you want it, I got an email the other day but I won't be using it, my whole family already have OSXified Mini9s :).
you can get a 1gb/8gb/xp refurb for $212 new through dell home after the 15% code, then upgrade the ram for about $20 if you feel the need. Of course, if you want to put OSX on it you are better off going for the cheapest linux one you can find and upgrading the bits yourself.
I still can't say enough about how great this thing is with OSX on it.
Agreed, get a refurb from Dell directly, that way you get a warranty too. I upgraded the ram to 2GB and honestly it didn't make much if any difference in how well or quickly the machine runs. My current experience is that the 8gb is a bit tight for OSX. I'd like to drop a 32gb Supertalent SSD in it but I just can't justify the outlay for what I use it for. I just have to be judicious in what I install and use the "real" mac mini I have for photo and video work. There's not enough room to install Aperture, iPhoto or iMovie and still have room for any files to edit. Heck, I don't even have Mail installed on this little gem.
