Had a ska songs pop up in my randomize/shuffle playlist this morning, and I had forgotten how much fun the songs are.
My question, though: Did Ska ever die? And if it did die, is it time for a revival?

Ska cannot die because ska never wanted to be mainstream. Ska doesn't care if you like it, or not.
If you try doing to ska like the hipsters did to PBR, everybody loses.
Ska will be amazing forever.
I mean, most of the 3rd wave is responsible for the bad reputation but...... Ska is fantastic. Upbeat, feel good dance hall music.

I'm hardly an authority on ska, but to me, that first video could be a Clash cover band. I'm guessing The Clash would list ska among their influences, at least for their early stuff.

Skif dank is awesome. I think i still have the "stop, drop and roll" cd that i got at a concert like 25+ years ago.
Had some Hepcat on earlier today.
I point Pandora to The Skatalites and it returns 60's Ska, mostly instrumental. Good background while cleaning around the house on a weekend morning.
Colin you really missed out on working here between like '95 and '05.

I ry to exploit Youtubes to find new music. In my travels, I've found 2 new bands that are really, really good.
Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra
Travelers All Stars (from Mexico) an awesome First Wave style band.
The cousin I grew up close to ended up in this ska band but, because he thought I'd make fun of him, avoided telling me for a long time. We jammed together enough times that, when I listen to their stuff, I can tell which songs he wrote, or at least contributed a lot to. He was the lead guitarist, and they were actually pretty big in the day

Ha! My first band was one of the opening bands for Rancid at an all-ages club back in like 1991 or so. A few of my friends were big Operation Ivy fans.
Ive been liking "Los Pies Negros". Ska from Puerto Rico.
