It looks like TF had the most fun in this episode.

Yeah i'm not sure what changed about him, but he went from being the least-interesting host from the last season, to the MOST interesting by far in this season for me.

I thought TF let his DB flag fly. I found him to go from having ZERO personality to overtly annoying.

IMHO the monster versions should have been tried with the cars they had. Even if it was ala TGUK in that they gave a vision and some guys did the work. That would have been cooler. Though, much much better than season 1.

I hate how they lie and say dumb things like "we had 12 hours to get our cars ready" then they are all of a sudden mini-monster trucks. Yeah, like they did that in 12 hrs. In general I dislike the little contests and races because they are 100% scripted. I will say that TGUS is more fun to watch for me than the Car Show. They are both way down my list of things to watch on TV though. It is funny that some people don't like TGUS because it is not as good as TGUK and I think it is too much like it.

+1... I wanted to see what they did to the cars, not just have them show up completely different than before.

At least we can watch shows in prime time about cars and not have to watch shows about cakes.

You do realize none of the monster trucks were really those cars, right? It was just three pickup truck frames with bodies slapped on top. They didn't exactly try to hide it.

Would have been nothing to see. As I pointed out earlier, all 3 cars were different cars used in the normal challenges versus the monster truck one. The Maverick went from a blue interior to a tan one and changed years, and the Miata lost all of it's crash damage and swapped it's aftermarket steering wheel for a stock airbag one.

That and the "monster truck" versions were just pickup truck frames with the requisite body bolted on. None were powered by the original motors. Didn't you notice the Miata exhaust on the wrong side?

In reply to Javelin: No, I know this. I'm still comparing to Top Gear UK... I always get at least a few lolz out of them ham-handedly upgrading their cars to deal with a challenge, I was hoping they would do something along those lines. That's what I meant.

3 car bodies on the same or similar truck frames = not nearly as good. I felt let down by that.

I laughed.

I was able to enjoy it with my girlfriend.

That's a win in my book.

Why do all of the cars they use in the challenges have to be totally trashed by the end? From what I have heard about the uk version, they lie to the people the cars come from about how they will be returned (for example the 75 and spider in the Alfa challenge)

To quote what I said here:

After all, TG is an entertainment franchise, and they have a long tradition of not letting the facts get in the way of a fun story. Examples: pretending that James flew the caravan-balloon pretending that the caravan-balloon wasn't authorized to enter airport airspace faking an emergency fire using editing to make it look like a different car won a race propragating a false story because they didn't try to verify it using kit car replicas instead of the real cars in their live show

Yeah, I know its just for fun, still lying to people to get cars to use doesnt seem right. In the case of the Alfas they lied to the people they got them from. The black 75 was a fairly nice car, and they told the owner they were just going to drive it at a track day, and they ended up crashing it into things, flipping it on its side, etc. The spider was a parts car, but they intentionally ruined the engine by overheating it when it ran fine before they got it.

you're correct...it is wrong for Top Gear to lie to car owners in order to buy and destroy something they treasure, just because the presenters aren't a fan of that kind of car.

[I was very annoyed when - during the Forza 4 PR blitz - Dan Greenwalt said, "We're going to tell you how much horsepower its got, we're going to tell you how fast it is, and he's [Clarkson] going to tell you how to really feel about it." (around the 8:00 mark) I can form my own opinions, thank you.]

It wasn't on the driver's side? Thought it was... At least it SOUNDED like a 1.6 motor through a stack.

The switcheroo without nary an explanation really made me think they thought we were dumb as rocks.

On the UK version Jeremy would have had a very funny dialogue about why they made the switch and how his was still superior.

When the episode came on and that Adam guy was doing the voice overs my wife said to just turn it off she could look or listen to him on purpose ever again. I really had to agree. If I quit watching it, he'll be the reason.

I "encouraged" her to give it a chance and she did enjoy most of it. She too commented on the switcheroo at the end but enjoyed it anyway.

On the plus side she actually watched TG, but walked out of the room on Car Show. Shortly thereafter I turned CS off because I was getting sick of the other Adam guy, as well as the show itself.

Why is it that other parts of the world can treat a carguy as if he/she has sense but in America they have to dumb them all down?

hahahaha same here! I laughed a good bit in this episode.

I like our version more and more, i'm not going to waste my time but big berkeleying whoop if they are being like the UK, it's called Top Gear...

Was I the only one that noticed that the "manure" was actually cypress mulch? Tanner even calls it "mulch" in one shot. All that yelling about the stink was just (bad) acting.

What? They lied about being covered in dung? So would I...

It was a bit better this time and even the wife was laughing hard at some stuff, though it is hard to get her to stop comparing it to the TGUK (which she absolutely loves).

Thanks to the last Car Show I can only watch it when she isn't in the room, but I ended up FF a bunch of the last episode, anyway. I'm sure the next episode of "how many hotties can you cram in a MINI" will endear her to it, as well. That's OK, I won't miss it when it gets canceled.
