yes! I read the story. Apparently, according to Marc, they spent most of the $100K advance on alcohol, and hence the mini scooters. They were all drunk out of their mind for most of the event.

This was stuck in my head for weeks. Luckily the only lyrics I could remember were "I'll be what I am...a solitary man."

Probably Johnny Cash's best song.

What is interesting is that the song was written before the movie came out.  All made with inferences made from pre release information.
