Apologies if we do, I can't find it.

ITT: Discuss photography and post lots of pictures! Automotive or otherwise.

I guess I'll start. Do feel free to critique anything I post.

We've discussed the topic now and then, but I think looking for critiques and sharing photos isn't quite what this forum does best, not that you're not free to do so.

I do most of my photography with this camera:

I am by no means a photographer, but I picked up an old rebel xti a couple years ago and have played around shooting at our local autocrosses and such. No photoshops here, just straight off the camera.

I tend to shoot Porsches, for obvious reasons... None of these have any editing (not sure if that is a good or a bad thing...)

I do a little photography. None of those fancy DSLR cameras, just a couple of point and shoots.

I like wildlife photography

and some landscape/cityscape stuff

and of course cars which I do more of than anything else.

Is it just me? I don't get the whole "not photoshopped" thing. I use photoshop a lot. Sometimes for fine tuning the colors to match the scans of Polaroids to the real deal, and sometimes for post processing. I have absolutely no problem with it, either when I do it or when someone else does it, outside of documentary photojournalism.

I also don't think it makes you a better photographer to present something unretouched if the photo could be improved by processing it. But these are my opinions, and we all know what those are worth.

Here are two examples of mine. One is heavily processed in photoshop, and one is a scan straight off a negative.

I think both work in their own right, but neither would look nearly as good if it was shot with the other camera, or processed in a similar manner. The first is a negative I scanned from a cheap plastic Holga camera, which I just adjusted the levels in photoshop after scanning. The second is digital which I converted to b/w using channel mixer in photoshop, cropped, and adjusted levels using masking.

I dont care about photoshop either way unless its been overprocessed and looks weird.

lets be honest a lot of the masters in the film days were really masters of the dark room . I mean no disrespect to them either because there the ones that got me dreaming of being a good photographer one day.

I was going to add that back in the days of BP (Before Photoshop), it wasn't uncommon to dodge, burn, and many other editing techniques that PS has added tools for now. If someone wants to feel superior because they didn't edit anything, well good for them.

I don't have a problem with photoshop. I just don't have photoshop, or know how to use it...

Ugh... Photography. I've ALWAYS wanted to get into photography but just can't seem to commit. I've been eyeing cheap DSLRs or micro four thirds cameras for two years now. Someday... Someday... Probably going to pick up a Rebel T3i soon.

My advice, don't jump right into a really nice camera.

Force yourself to take pictures with a decent point-and-shoot until you're sure you really want to get into it. Learn to take good pictures with what you have first, THEN get new equipment when the equipment is the limiting factor.

I have a DSLR, and i can't take photos worth a DAMN with it.

I've always taken photos, but I've gotten more into photography in the last few years. There's much to be said for the latest and greatest technology, but there's also a solid case to be made for shooting old manual cameras. I've learned way more about photography with my old film cameras than with any of my digitals.

I still have my old Nikon F3.

Photography threads make me glad I'm not a photographer, but I do wish I knew how to do more video editing stuff and was a better writer, website designer, web developer, etc.

Seems like you've got to be more than just a picture taker these days.

For whatever reason, I've recently developed an urge for a black Nikon F or F2. I've never owned a Nikon; my first serious SLR 20 years ago was a Pentax SFX kit, and I've got a bunch of other film stuff, but no Nikon. My digital equipment is all Canon.

I started with a Nikon FG as a graduation present in 1985. Worked my way up through an 8008, also bought the F3, then went digital with a Coolpix 995. Then a D70 for years until last year I had to replace it with a D5100.
