Woody, the fencing thing was an example and not a requirement of all rescues. But with mill rescues (not the puppies the breeding dogs) they run, they all run so we have to require fences.

If you talk the wife into a Lab then it's easy :) If you are on the book of faces you can look them up there Save A Lab or online at http://savealabrescue.org/

I recommend the faceborg page only because you can see the dogs (especially puppies) that are "in the pipeline" ie. to young to adopt yet and get in on them. They are such a strong and active rescue most dogs are spoken for by the time they are old enough to leave so you put in an app and if approved you wait and holler DIBS! :) ok its not exactly like that but it feels that way sometimes.

Besides, how can the wife say no to THIS

And of course these were just born yesterday. Looks like they have some Catahoula in them.

Fence a smaller area off, it gives the dog outdoor time when you have other things to do, he will learn what is his area and will love being outside, its also a good place to feed him, keeping any mess off the house floor.

That is a capital idea.

Yep, that's a great idea. usually you can go on CL and find a chain link dog run for under $100 sometimes even free if you disassemble and haul away.

I had the most laid back dog ever.

A beagle/shepherd mix. Vet called him a big beagle.

Nothing bothered him. Except when he was hunting or a cat took a swipe at him.

Seemed almost like two different dogs.
