A rural Wisconsin man is accused of shooting his TV with a shotgun and sparking an all-night standoff with police after watching Bristol Palin perform Monday on "Dancing With the Stars." Prosecutors say Steven Cowan of Vermont, Wis., about 20 miles northwest of Madison, did not think Palin was a good dancer, so he shot the TV and pointed the gun at his wife before she escaped, according to a criminal complaint. SWAT team members talked Cowan, 67, out of the home early Tuesday, and Palin advanced to the "DWTS" finals later that night.

Yeah, I heard that on the news today. Apparently the guy is just a little mentally unstable. I can't imagine what would give them that idea.

DWTS seems like a good reason to cancel cable AND not put up and antenna.

That way she CAN'T watch it.

He shot his TV after watching Bristol Palin on a dancing reality show and that makes him mental? I think it makes him a hero to emulate.

Depends on the set. If it was a nice flatscreen, he's mental. CRT, I'd cut him some slack.

I will gladly concede to Bristol Palin winning the voting on a stupid dance show if it meant that her mother would never win an election for anything important.

Rats...I was afraid people were going to turn this into a political post. Just take it for what it is, a funny story about some guy who shot his television.

Many's the time I've been tempted to blow a hole through the screen, usually when I see 'Survivor' or some other such 'reality' trash is on. So I guess I can kinda sympathize with the dude.

Didn't Elvis once shoot a TV for some stupid reason or other?

I don't care about the tea party or Sarah Palin, just don't turn this into some slamfest.

It's about expectations. When I see politicians I expect mudslinging. When I am told stars will be dancing, they damn sure better be able to dance

He was bi-polar from what I read, off the meds. He at one point was pointing the gun at his wife and he was drunk......

So Drunk bi-polar off his meds. Yep, sounds unstable to me.

which is why you have to answer the question, "have you ever been certified mentally defective?" when you buy a firearm... apparently the atf data on that doesn't get updated very often

I am trying to figure out if the Tea Party supporters are voting to keep her in because of her mother, or the Tea Party haters are voting to keep her in to embarrass the familty.

My neighbor threw his TV through the living room window when he came home from work and found his kids watching it on a nice day. He may have had a cocktail on the golf course before going home.
