It seems that every time I turn around the DOT is taking the curves out of the local roads. Is this the latest law suite craze? Junior didnt learn to drive his new Mustang/ fart can Lexus and crashed in a curve so mommy and daddy sue the DOT? I like curvy roads and wanna keep them.
If lawyers arent the problem why the hell is the county spending my tax dollars on these projects. I pay enough tax how about sending some back? You dont have to spend every damn dime...Is this happening in your neck of the woods?
HIghway engineers have been trying to straighten out roads from day one, it's nothing new.
Here they keep making the bridges wider. Dammit I like skinny bridges.
Never mind that studies show that roads with curves force drivers to pay attention, which is why the autobah. Was designed to have a curve every x number of kilometers.

Something about your post makes it look like you typed it on an iPhone. You did, didn't you?
Meh, I'd be happy if they paved the roads up here in NY from time to time. They just paved a huge section of Central Park's main road. While it's nice to ride my bicycle on, it wasn't one of the roads they should have focused on.

Did my post get deleted? hmmm
We used to have an awesome 2 mile long curvey road about 500 feet from the house. The pavement was cracked and the state wanted to repave, but didn't have enough money. In order to qualify for government grants to repave roads, the road had to be more straight. They ended up leveling and straightening the road to get the grant.
It totally changed the feeling of the neighborhood, and the road is really boring now.
So the government forced them to spend $2,000,000 to do a $900,000 job? I'm glad nobody thinks our government is efficient to begin with.
Yeah, I've been abusing the iPhone lately and my typing has gotten lazy. Mostly because I hurt my back working on the yard and building some shelving for the house. Using the phone in bed is many times easier than the laptop when lower back movements are painful. So yeah, sorry if my sentence structures are worse than usual, etc.
The Feds specifying changes like that in order to approve funding is pretty common. There is a bridge nearby that should be replaced, but the Feds and county want it built higher and longer which would destroy the condos built next to it as well as change the traffic flow into the rest of the area. Of course it is so bad that fire trucks and buses have been banned from it for a few years now, but nearly 300000 cars cross it a day.
