The Sandman comics were finally adapted to TV. Neil Gaiman was consulted and built the show how he wanted.
I'm in love with it. It is still one of my favorite stories and I have a complete collector's hardcover edition on my shelf next to my complete Calvin & Hobbes hardcover set.
Anyone else watching? Favorite episode?
Need to watch it. I'm approaching it cautiously though.
The thing that gets me just looking at promos is... actors playing the Endless. Not the specific actors or anything. Literally just that they are human beings. I always read the Endless has having mutable and indefinite forms that shift with the situation and the people observing them. Casting actual human beings means "Dream looks like this." That doesn't quite sit right with me.
Two episodes so far. It's very well done and seems faithful to the series. Enjoying it greatly.
Based on the title, I immediately thought of Cass Elliot, but since she's been gone awhile, I was puzzled.
I know nothing of this "Sandman."
Carry on, strange people.

What network? It's on my radar but I don't watch that much TV.

The only one that really bothers me so far is Desire (although I haven't gotten to Delirium.) I always saw them as actively morphing between sexes with each frame of the comic. Dream and the rest are grounded enough that I would think some light special effects or subbing in a different actor/actress would solve the problem (and thus far I haven't been disappointed, except maybe by Dream's eyes)

But do they actually sub in different actors?
Yeah, Desire would probably be the toughest to create. Like... they're meant to be completely androgynous and drop dead sexy. Not many who could pull that off. Like... young Tilda Swinton or Grace Jones, maybe? David Bowie or Prince?
I think Milo Manara's presentation of Desire was the only one to ever *truly* nail it.

Netflix
Awesome, thanks. I was afraid it was Prime, which I don't have.

New episode. Dream of a Thousand Cats, and Calliope.
I'd forgotten how dark some of these stories are.
24/7 was good, like really good. About as perfect as I could see them getting away with with live action. The one with Death is my personal faovite though.
They crammed a lot of material into the first season and did not hold your hand to much which was appreciated. All in its about as faithful an adaptation as I could imagine being made of the source material and having to actually film it. But Dream grows as a "person" a lot faster then the comics.
Sorry had to double post.
Netflix dropped a extra 11th episode
I had no idea.
I used to have a Death T-shirt I was very fond of, with the "You get what anyone gets. You get a lifetime." quote.
I haven't read them in forever, but they sure made an impression.

RE: Calliope, everything is implied, nothing graphic.
Dream of a Thousand Cats: One bad moment, but mostly ok.

As a cat (and animals in general) lover, if it's what I gather from the summary, I'll pass.

Love everything that Gaiman puts out and had not even heard of this until Mrs NOHOME asked if it was something I might watch. Hell yeah,
Just met Matthew the raven tonight, a refreshing voice amongst all the dour supernaturals.
