If you ever see Duke selling something, don't hesitate to buy it. Excellent description, better than expected, and he is neat, organized, and on top of paperwork.
... and that's just about the coffee he made for me.
I am so happy. Like a kid in a candy store. THANK YOU DUKE.
Cool! I am (once again) living vicariously through you.
That grill is so much better looking than the GTO grills.
I can't stop staring at that picture. That thing is The New E36 M3. You deserve it.
How many hundreds of people did you end up talking to on the way home?

Lots of thumbs up on the road, but with the exception of a quick drive-thru at Sonic I didn't really talk to anyone.
Having followed this, my favorite part of the whole thing is that you can come to GRM, ask a question like, "who knows of a Lemans Convertible that I can buy?"
The same day, an answer comes back with a "full history" car at a proper price.
Once again, I am amazed at the power of the GRM board!
Very nice! Odd enough, I've been perusing tempest and lemans in the same years.

Awesome. Based on the numbers being thrown around in the other thread it looks like you got a hell of a deal.
My god that is one beautiful automobile! I agree with Woody, much better grill. Congrats on the purchase man.
Oh man, what a find. Congrats. (Runs off to start a "Where can I find a clean Civic Hatch?" thread)

Uh, weren't you unemployed and living out of a semi trailer just months ago? ;)
Partly knowling exaggerated for effect, but...
Picked up a few remodel jobs, sold an El Camino, worked as a male prostitute for a while... its all good.
well... does it do a burnout?
interesting pics … especially considering this months GRM article about towing … with the car on the trailer backwards

Heh, and I just got that GRM and read the towing article the night before Curtis showed up. Don't worry, the tow vehicle was nice and level, and the car was secure. I'm glad you made it back to home base safely.
Yeah, I'm still on the fence about the price, but it's all about the GRM friends and family discount, and the comfort of knowing it'll be taken care of and driven by someone who loves it as much as I do. It would have been another 10 years before I could really get into the work it needed, and no car deserves to be ignored for that long. It needs to be out in the sunshine and fresh air, moving under its own power. I can't wait for the build thread.
Hey, I though we were not supposed to post pornographic photos here!

Hate to sound technical, but... Let's assume a 60/40 weight distribution. Look at the relationship of the car's center to the axles of the trailer. There was definitely positive tongue weight on the truck. A LOT.
Plus, much of the trip home was sub-40 mph. It was Sunday in Amish territory on rural roads. It took us forever to get to the freeway. Dad and I estimated 70-80 buggies that we passed. Once we got to the freeway, it was only 45 miles home, most of which was 55 mph and I kept it to 50. The trailer behaved very well.
But truthfully, I would have duct-taped that car to a motorcycle to get it home. SO MUCH WANT.

Got it in the shop, but its friggin 6 degrees here. Finishing up a bathroom remodel and then I'll prime an oil pump and give it a whirl.
Unheated shops in PA suck. They suck big donkey wang.

You GRM folks are witness to this. Duke and I promised that he has first refusal if this car is ever sold, and I would give him the exact same GRM friends and family price. He has my word, and you are all witness to it.
In reply to curtis73: Did you pinky promise? I love me some Poncho, my first car was a 67 Tempest 326 my sister had tore the frontend off. Fond memories when I saw that grill shot.
