So I know my laptop battery is E36 M3, I just wish it would be consistent. Case in point, earlier tonight I had it unplugged in the kitchen running itunes and internet while cooking dinner for 20 minutes, no issues. Later, after typing up some notes, I unplug and take it over to the printer, it lasts all of 3 minutes before dying. And it doesn't die nicely, just one second its running, the next its black screen and completely off.

OTOH, it is a $400 BB special from 4 years ago. So I guess its done its job.

Check ebay for a replacement. Honestly if you dig around on there you can generally find a new replacement for fairly cheap. I had an old HP that I got a new battery for like $25.

Amazon is your friend.

Can you fire it back up after it suddenly dies? If so you may be looking at a mobo dying vs the battery.

Many cheap laptops have problems with the power jacks not holding up well - are you sure it's actually charging when it's plugged in?

The battery probably needs replacing, it's 4 years old after all, that's about as long as they last. Don't get a cheapo Chinese replacement, I did for mine and I regret it.
