I blame my hearing loss on Alice Cooper in 1974. Front row seats. That and a LOT .22 shooting in high school.

Here's how concerts go for me:
Wife: (yelling) Are you having fun?
Me: What?
Her: (screaming) Are you having fun?
Me: (lying through my teeth) Yeah, this is great. The beer is cold and tasty and I recognize this song.
Why do they turn it up so loud? Also, why doesn't anyone in the music industry seem to understand that I want to hear the vocals as well, so they should be the loudest channel, not the quietest.
You can get the cheap version of the eargasm plugs on Wish.com. I got a couple of sets and the wife and I are going to a concert Saturday, hopefully they help.
Etymotic Research XS-20 is what I use daily for driving (loud custom exhaust and noisy interior in the FR-S), concerts, restaurants, or working around the house with power tools/kitchen appliances. I use them with anything that makes noise louder than a normal speaking level. I am heavily into high end, high quality audio, and care greatly about my hearing.
These work very well at attenuating yet not muffling sound - stock FR-S audio system actually sounds pretty decent once you crank the volume up and have the ER XS-20s in to hear music above the loud noise floor in the interior. Conversations are very difficult to have in my FR-S, just too much noise in the cabin, and long road trips will affect hearing without the ER XS-20s in. Bring the ER XS-20s with me wherever I go, they have a very convienant case.

Just looked at the Eargasms... they are basically knock off of Etymotics for a higher price... LOL
Etymotic is THE industry leader when it come to high quality neutral reference IEMs and hi-fidelity hearing protection at affordable prices. No reason not to go with them if you value your hearing - they've been in audiology research and IEM monitoring/hearing protection development for 35+ years...
In reply to Toyman01 :
I received a pair of eargasms a couple weeks ago because I can’t deal with foam plugs for playing music anymore. Haven’t used them playing music yet, but it seems like trying to have a conversation while wearing them would be more maddening than just dealing with the background noise. I do like the fit.

Whenever my 56 year old wife says "huh" or can't hear me I remind her it's from that 3rd row Van Halen concert in 1979. Ruined her hearing for life.

Van Halen 1984 concert took some of mine. They cracked the roof in the Carolina Colossus. I was 16 at the time.
