I have a couple sizes of the George Forman grill that I got at yard sales for a couple bucks each,
I think they were wedding gifts that never got used !

I've been traveling a bunch, and still can't decide if electric grills are terrible or exactly what I'm looking for. But this popped up on Facebook a few miles away for $20, so I now own a George Foreman.
It's first test will be grilling a few bratwurst for dinner:
I figure if it doesn't work out, it will be a perfectly serviceable little grill for the paddock. Or I'll throw it back on Facebook and recoup my $20.
I hit it with an infrared pyrometer and measured about 500 degrees, which should be good enough for what I'm trying to do. It's hot enough to turn the grease into smoke at least.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Nice work! Looks great. Are they as good as the brats at Lime Rock ... or Road America?
I need a new grill but I'm hesitant to go electric because I love the CHAR.
To me, the whole point of cooking on the grill is to have food that's just a little burnt around the edges.
The George Forman 6qt contact roaster can take a full chicken, some carrots and potatoes ,
I would not buy one at retail , but it's something to look for at yard sales / resale shops
Sorry I am on my iPad and no idea how to post a picture!
Not that I could find, and I agree--I'm not a fan of the cheap teflon coating.
This is on my Christmas wishlist, but it's $500.... Still, no non-stick and more power is appealing:
