One of the joys of working for the second most hated gov't agency in the world is that a group of nosey do gooders are always trying to find us in a position that will get us fired, as though the company is one salary away from rolling the fare back to a dime. I've gotten used to having my picture take on my dinner break or reading on my commute with the "I'm sure we're not paying you to do that" commentary but yesterday was the best. On my way in I have to change buses. I ducked into McDonald's to use the mens room and someone followed me in, snapped my picture in the bathroom and sent in a complaint. I ws ok with my picture taken outside, but I'm pretty sure people taking pictures in bathrooms can end up on some kind of registry. I just hope if they come to me with the complaint that our budding Geraldo put his correct name and address on it so the good folks from the police can find him easier.

Second most hated? Assuming the IRS is first, and that you have to wear a uniform of some sort since you are recognized in public, are you with the MiB? Seriously, I am drawing a blank. But whatever it is, having people assume that you are not allowed to pee is a real pain. Taking photos is absurd!

Wally you ought to be happy, it means the graffiti you've been putting on the bathroom walls is working.

Someone just wanted to see if it's true. I can see the pic now "Sighting of the Elephant Man in McDs on X street" There will be a whole cult based upon your life!

New York city transit, an evil organization that holds people upside downuntil exact change falls out of them so they can ride some old bus they didn't want to take in the first place.

There are a small group off people that assume If we are in uniform we are on the clock, and if we are on the clock we shouldn't be going to McDonald's. From what I was told he had been in that area for a little while since a few bus lines end there and there is a Subway station. He made it his duty to make sure everyone was working.

So you are saying that you don't have a pair of tubes so that you don't have to leave your station no matter what? You should be robots instead.

Who did he complain to and what did MTA say?

I'm sure by the time you become one of the people that gets complained to, you probably have been one of the ones complained about.

They get sent to some office downtown and if they think it's worth pursuing and they can figure out what department I'm in it will eventually make it's way back to me so I can answer for my awful deeds.

They've tried to cut back on us with computers. Somehow the lowest bidder couldn't figure out how to get gps to follow a 60 foot bus up and down a small island.

Down here taking pictures in the restroom could get you a stay in the big house. And listed on the sex offenders database.

Yeah, Wally... you should sue the guy for invasion of privacy. In uniform or not, you should be able to take a dump in peace.

Either that or start carrying around a trench coat to wear when you're in uniform, but off-duty...

I disagree. When I stil lived there, taking a picture is a restroom would get you beat up on an epic level. Less the aouth has gotten all wussy on ya.

Wally, I would honeslty pursure this as a legal action. I get the whole bit with wanting responsible civic employees, but that is crap. Once the headlines hit about that, I bet it would at least draw a line in the sand about how far these choads can take this.

Are you allowed to carry a jacket or anything? Cuz a stylish, and functional GRM zippered hoodie:

or mechanics jacket:

..would serve 2 purposes. Maybe GRM could just let you have an old one and write it off. Hell, if I thought it would fit, I'd send ya mine.

Problem: NYC sucks.

Solution: Move.

I'm guessing no one would papparazi Wally the North Georgia Schoolbus driver, or scream "DEATH TO AMERICA" at him as he drove by.

As a person who has been followed more then once by those stupid local TV investigators because of where I worked. It gets old, but what does not get old is finding out the dork is behind in his child support and alerting the competing "investigator" from the other channel.
Before it's asked I worked for a collection agency. Every smoke break allowed an opportunity for these d-bags to push a camera in my face and ask if we were following the law.

Wow, I am officially never complaining about my job again. I have never been on a bus, why do people hate you? I hate busses, sure. They cut you off in traffic and run into you and ignore every traffic law ever written, but that's not the driver's fault. Busses are evil. Mass transit is evil. The drivers are there to keep evil busses from running amok and killing everyone!

here I was expecting someone to be ranting about the quality of CL or other random for sale pics or whatever by people using camera phones haha.

I guess there could be worse things then working at walmart (maybe?)... one month to go before the new job starts :) from the sounds of it I should be expecting some class action law suit papers eventualy... someone's always suing walmart for something haha
