The best part about that thing is the not-quite-matching brush paint over the previous rust repair, which has since rusted through again.

That is actually one of the things I miss most about where I grew up on Maryland's Eastern Shore.  2-ship 'seek and destroy' pattern flyovers at under 1000 ft were a frequent occurrence.

^ grew up midway between MacDill and the AF bombing range.  Never saw any bombers but plenty of the rest of the AF and Navy's inventory.

Charlie the Beagle always brightens up my day, and I had a crappy one today: first dealing with local beauracrats, then Annie's car not starting (eee-leck-tron-icks), and then subsequent towing ... all while simultaneously child-sitting the granddaughters. But here's Charlie "the vehicle" to the rescue:

We're child-sitting our granddaughters for a couple days for our son, and Charlie is part of the package.

Probably told this story before.

My 4x4 club was out on our yearly 10 day trip and someone was broken or we just wanted to party one day. We are out in the middle of nowhere in western NH and had about 10 Jeeps circled with tents up. We are wrenching, BSing, blasting music, partying, etc. All of a sudden two A-10s scream by just over the tree tops. Pretty sure we were "dead" as they sure looked like they used our camp as a practice target run. Well we lost it cheering et al. The duo then circled back and approached so low that we could clearly see the thumbs up from the pilots when they circled the camp and did a tip wing salute to us.

That day was a good day, I didn't need my AK. Really was a special moment in my life.

As a Samurai owner I can relate.

When they would practice their S+D pattern over our house it was usually a pair of A-10s running crisscross zigzags back and forth along the given path.  Mostly a series of 90d banking, left / right / left.  They were low enough that my dog would chase them barking.  On more than one occasion they broke pattern to orbit my house a time or two and laugh at the dog.

I grew up a few miles from the Glenview naval airbase (Illinois north shore suburbs) and multiple times daily had C130 coming in to land where it looked like the belly of the plane was not many feet above the treetops.

Yeah those things are like a big Carbon Cub and can land/take off in really short distances. And some can do this:

So dang cool.

Had one fly overhead Monday. Very unusual here! Usually F-35s and V-22s to break up the C-17 traffic.

Actually had an HH-65 fly over my work yesterday afternoon.  I work in SW VA.  To my knowledge, closest base is Savannah.

I was wondering if we were getting a visit.  We make vests and pockets for USCG air crews and rescue hooks.
