In this case he was:

Two things really disappoint me:

  1. It took this long for anyone to notice

  2. He didn't take the opportunity to throw in any Robot, Macarena or Gangnam Style moves.

I wonder what genius figured it was better to have a fake signing than nobody signing? Did they figure that all deaf people were also blind? Or mute, perhaps?

I've always wondered if sign language would work between people who don't actually speak the same language. As in someone speaking French uses the sign for something and that sign is the same sign someone speaking English would use, so the idea gets across even though they each think they are signing their own language.

From my understanding, you don't think of sign language as being a version of English or French. It's a language of its own.

Does sign language have dialects?!

I know that there is definitely an American Sign Language, so I am sure there is for other countries/languages too.

So that's where all those hip-hop retards get those hand movements from. Now I get it, they're signing.

Let’s promise that if any of us ever work for Rosetta Stone, we’ll imbed several outrageously offensive phrases into the translations…deal?

Yes. When you see a signer flapping like a hummingbird and then throw out a loooong slow hand gesture away from their body, then kinda stare a minute, you know he's from the South.

Y'all.

You just can't make this E36 M3 up:

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/12/11/mandela-memorial-interpreter-deemed-fake/# said: A man who stood close to President Barack Obama and other heads of state while providing sign language interpretation at Nelson Mandela’s memorial Tuesday was a “fake” who was making up his own gestures, sign language experts say, raising questions about the security at the event. "[He] was moving his hands around, but there was no meaning in what he used his hands for," Bruno Druchen, the Deaf Federation of South Africa’s national director, told The Associated Press Wednesday. The country’s deaf community and the ruling African National Congress have no knowledge of who the man actually is, despite him appearing on television gesticulating alongside South African President Jacob Zuma last year, Reuters reported. Zuma’s office is trying to figure out the man's identity.

yes...

in High school I took Sign as my 2nd language (yes FL is weird... and I figured it'd be easier than Spanish or French)... our teacher taught "Exact Sign" after my 2 years a new teacher came in teaching proper "ASL" (american sign)... the real difference is that exact sign is just as it sounds, you sign exactly ALL of the words and pre/suffix etc... in ASL it's more along the lines of signing the important words... enough to be understood

other countries have different variations of their own sign... I'm sure some cross over but it's certainly not universal
