I use Signal for work (hate it) and Discord for a few video games. But getting my mom, sister, etc etc on that stuff will be harder. Whatsapp is very easy to use for texting/calling/video call. And Instagram algorithms is already catered to my particular interest lol. Cool car E36 M3, watches, dress boots, fashion, and funny E36 M3.
I don't have a FB account and probably never will but I wouldn't want it gone forever.

Oh, really?
November 17th, 2178 - "On October 4th, 2021, increased productivity, vaccination rates, global economy indicators, and overall worldwide happiness indicators showed a sharp upwards spike for several hours. IQ scores globally doubled in all tests, while aggression levels subsided across the board. To scholars in the 22nd century, unfortunately, the cause of this has been lost to time."
Just before it crashed, I had reported a page that was claiming to be my uncle's page but was clearly an imposter. Facebook contacted my uncle and claimed they did not consider the fact that it was using pictures from his page, the same name, and the same birthday to be an attempt to impersonate him or steal his identity.
I'm pretty sure what happened next is that Facebook's computers attempted to believe that logic.

There are better alternatives including Craigslist and this forum for car sales and car part sales.
Most forums were more active before Facebook came along.
Facebook's communicator is just like texting except that Facebook can read it.
I don't really see a problem here if it disappeared forever.

Craigslist now charges and is full of dealer ads. Group FB chats for specific groups was/is good for broadband communication. Forums, other than here, were too specific.
I have never used it and know nothing about it, but the name WhatsApp just pisses me off so much.
Yes, I'm like that.

If Facebook went away other alternatives would pop up. And maybe those alternatives would be less squirrely and less filled with disinformation.
It did nuke my groupchats on messengerwith friends on talking about cars, autocross, etc. which was starting to heat up again since it is starting to cool down again in Florida, so there is that. ugh lol.
I haven't really adapted to other messenger programs once the original AIM, Yahoo, and MSN messenger slowly faded away....

Eh, I sell cars all the time on CL and have never paid. They are just "general" type cars, that's all.
I couldn't get into Facebook and thought I was banned because of my post about Godwin's Law being weaponized.
some interesting potential explanations here:

ymmv
cant say i'm too upset. forums need to come back. too many car groups keep asking the same flipping questions over and over and over. wonder if we'll get reimbursed for the adds we've been running. nothing better than paying for 4 days and getting 3.

Whoever they are, these guys are good. Word has it that Facebook employees are also locked out of their own buildings when the hackers disabled their security cards.
