You know, every time they come out with another one, I can never decide whether I want to see it or not. I have watched them all, but after 2 I waited until they came out to DVD. I saw the preview for 6 and thought to myself "I would go to the theater to see that".

Now, in no way would I consider this a Shakespearean Masterpiece, but it looks like a good middle of the summer, got nothing better to do, want to be in the AC of the movie theater, type of movie. Yeah, there is probably going to have the same destruction of perfectly good classic cars, but what are you going to do.

Anyways here's the extended preview if you haven't seen it:

Yeah, as per usual, I want to see it. I've seen 4 of the 5 in theatres (I admit to missing Tokyo Drift) and own them on DVD/Blu Ray. Love these movies for the popcorn car chase flicks they are.

I only saw 1 & 2 in the theater. I ended up really liking Tokyo Drift and 4 was OK, but 5 I thought was actually good.

Pretty good action movies, guaranteed to have cool cars and some good chases. Hard to go too wrong. They have wandered wildly from the original theme of course.

The thing I found interesting about the last one was an interview they did with the cast. The Rock made Vin Diesel look like a little girl. They seem to shoot around that for the movies of course.

The only one I saw in the theater was 4.......and only because my ticket was paid for by a friend....lol

Out of all of them, I am still convinced Tokyo drift was the best from a storyline.....the rest are just entertaining. If I have nothing better to do, I might go see 6.

I am surprised to see a 6th though, the rock is normally the death note of a franchise.

i saw the first one (lost interest halfway thru but stuck it out), most of the second one (lost interest about 45 minutes in and changed the channel), and the whole Tokyo one (actually lost interest 10 minutes in when they were done showing the Monte Carlo)..

don't think i'll plan on ever seeing this one, and might even actively avoid it if it pops up on TNT in 2 years....

I'll admit the F&F franchise is my dirty little secret love. I've seen them all in the theaters (2, 3, and 5 on opening night) and own them all on DVD (except 4 for some reason). I think Tokyo Drift was actually the best one, but they are just great in a totally campy action-flick way. The first one is fun to play "drink when it's wrong" with. Anyway, the preview for 6 has me excited. I spotted an RTR 69 Mustang, an Escort Rallye Mexico, and a Charger Daytona in there, plus totally insane action-flick stuff like driving out of a crashing jet plane. Oh yes, I will be seeing this!

These movies are perfect for bringing whiskey to the $2 theater! Excellent mindless entertainment, especially when whiskey is involved.

  1. It was a fake F-Bomb, and 2. all the classics they wreck are rusted out hulks or fiberglass shells. It's actually pretty cool that they don't kill any real iron.

Reminds me why I sometimes wish I had a tank. Hope they don't crash the Alfa.

I'd seen 1, 2, Tokyo Drift and the latest one (In Brazil). #2 was one of the worst movies ever, but the others were decently entertaining to good.

Wait a minute - didn't that asian guy die in Tokyo Drift? You know, in a fiery explosion? Now he's back to life a-la comic book style, because I can only assume that he wasn't really dead the whole time, right?

disclaimer - I haven't seen 4 or 5 so if is 'splained in one of those forgive me for not putting a SR20 in my civic.

4, 5, and apparently now 6 are allegedly plotted before tokyo drift in the timeline......

There was also a Jenson Interceptor visable in the trailer.

In reply to Matt B:

He apparently escaped the rolled-over RX-7 before it went "ka-boom". They never showed the body in the car. Same way Lani is coming back. They told us she was shot, and there was a funeral scene, but no body. The only characters to stay dead will be the VW tweaker and Hairy McGruffers.

The plots have never been good enough for me to bother remembering. I watch the movies, I'm entertained, but when they throw in a plot twist from another one of the movies I never know exactly why everyone is surprised. The last one, when the chick came back and everyone was shocked, my fiance asked "who's that?" and I replied "I'm not sure, she looks familiar, but I'm guessing that she was presumed to be dead". I didn't even notice there was a "dead" Asian guy in some of the movies! I guess the aforementioned whiskey might have something to do with that.

I noticed that also. I am guessing that is the modernized version that someone makes (they had it on TopGear).

In regards to the dead asian guy - so it's about as clear as mud. Gotcha. Shouldn't really matter anyways.

I for one, would like to see a zombie version of the VW tweaker. Should fit right in with the military equipment theme of this new one.

I also don't believe that all the movies are necessarily in chronological order. I believe 5 came before 3.

THAT'S what that was!

I thought it was a Studebaker Avanti.

So am I the only one that thinks they could film someone taking a dump, throw in a few ricer cars and girls in short skirts, call it Fast & Furious (insert clever tag) and the tuner kids will eat it up? I watched the preview last night, and have zero interest. More flying cars, a convoluted story, slow motion action scenes and car chases...

And yes, get off my lawn.

Not necessarily. The beginning of 4 was actually before 3. 5 took place after all of them because of the character build up. The motorcycle chick in 5 was introduced in 4 as was the two cocky Spanish only speaking guys.
