There's a few neighborhoods in Chicago that have a very large flock of parrots, apparently because of pet release into the wild. But they have hung around, year after year, through the cold.
Apparently they only survive because of bird feeders left out through the winter.
Well this is a timely thread. We've had a varying number of feral cats in the neighborhood, but since we've started putting out food for the turtles & birdseed there have been a lot more cats too. Until today...
I looked out the back door & thought "wtf is that?" That was a half-eaten kitten... Something bit its whole back completely off. It could have been a raccoon, but we frequently see them & the cats eating side-by-side. I'm thinking the large fox I saw last year may be back in our area.
