Just found this scouring the Chicagoland CL. I think it's too much even though you get 2 buses and a running chassis with a Cummins Diesel.

Am I the only one who looks at that, and wants to hack the back half off of the body so I can turn it into a 1960s-style race transporter?

No. Definitely not the only one.
I don't know if I would chop it. Looking at the seams, you could possibly make it open both up and out. Add ramp...perfect combo.
Awesome. I love the art deco styling.
Price seems insane, though. IIRC, Aussie didn't pay anything like that for his bus.

Correct, definitely not the only one... I was just looking at it trying to figure out where exactly to cut and leave enough interior room for the wife and kiddos.
More for less.

The autocross course will need to occupy a lot the size of Scandinavia, but yea, I think that would be an awesome addition to the Challenge.
That would be a cool project to drop an old streamliner bus onto a new bus chassis, but you'd need a crane to lift the body, it's not like you can get 6 of your in-shape buddies to help you lift it, like a car body.

I wonder how many miles you can get out of a bus? This one has 570,000! I would not think bus miles are easy miles.......
You could probably cut a chunk out of the lower back of the double decker to accept a car (with flip-down ramps)...then the lower floor's your garage (I wonder if you could roll cars straight in, store 2 or 3?) and the upper floor's your RV...maybe trim the floor of the upper back (put beds on top) and put an engine hoist above the rearmost car area...MUAHAHA YOU CAN'T UNREAD THIS!

While you have the Saw-Zall out, move the engine to the front.
