I have further proof that reading comprehension is not possible with Canadians. I get 10-15 calls/emails a day from Canadians wanting things shipped to them. Website states in multiple places "No International Shipping".
So I get a customer feedback this morning. email: eatme@suckit.com for a guy names "a dude". His comment: "Cover the Acura EL to fags" (no, I did not use the wrong "to/too").
Really? You have to be that rude because you can't read? Seriously.... I deal with dozens of people every day and by far the rudest, most obnoxious people I deal with consistently are Canadians.
I thought our neighbors to the north were supposed to be the nicer, kinder people compared to us rude Americans?
most people do not consider Canada "international". more like our northern states.. That is until we do something they do not like or vice versa
That's a good one. Someone had already given me a sign that said "Don't panic, Blame Canada"

Be nice. I know some Canukistani people (Leslie, Keith, Transmaro) who are very nice.
And let's keep this polite. I don't want to hear anyone calling them frostb*cks
Re: Companies that don't ship internationally.
Really?
In this day and age?
The world is soooo big and sooo huge that you can't ship to another country?
Why is it so hard to give people money?
I have a U.S shipping address because it's easier than dealing with folks who can't fill out one extra piece of paper.
It sounds like your big problem isn't Canadians, it's just idiots.
mad_machine got it in one - the Canada-US border isn't viewed as international by a lot of people. Things like NAFTA don't really help. So yeah, it's not unusual to have people think that "international" means overseas.
Shipping internationally is still a major pain for businesses, though. It's not "one extra piece of paper", to do it right you need to know the country of origin of everything you're shipping. And if there's more than one part in a kit, things get fairly complicated. We'll ship internationally, but it's a lot more difficult than shipping domestically.
Canadians do complain a lot, though. It's embarrassing.
Want to fix the problem? Change "no international shipping" to "we only ship to the US". Voila.

No, they get downright nasty. He was right the first time.

Well, first of all Corporate does not allow any part to leave the US. Not our call. Second, the paper work is ridiculous to ship outside the US. The duties and fees we get nailed with are astronomical etc. Add in that the highest number of "fraud" (read: I don't want to pay for my parts that I signed for) comes from Canadian addresses. Since their banks are Canadian and not US, we get boned.
So, you canucks want parts from the US, stop being douchebags.
How do those people selling me electronic components from Singapore on ebay (LCDs, discreet components, op-amps, etc get them to Pennsylvania in 3 days with no additional cost to me if this is such a headache? They come USPS with all the stamps from customs on them for like... $5 shipping. What chicanery do they employ to make that work?

International shipping is almost all we do. It can get complicated, especially if over 2000.00, when the paperwork grows exponentially. Generally, the freight forwarder handles all of that, but FedEx and UPS do not. We don't do Canada, but I have heard that shipping is pricey.
"Canadians are like that nice family that lives over the biker bar."
I think that you will find that mad_machine has this one figured out; Canadians hardly see themselves as "foreign delivery", more like just a county with a funny zip code.
Canadians are not aware of how provincial the USA population is. The average USA citizen does not have a passport and considers "Out of State" to be foreign travel/commerce. Canada because of its small size and ethnic diversity tends to have a worldwide view of commerce.
Canadians deal with the border all the time and don't see it as the formidable obstacle to trade that the Americans do. So when they see the No International Deliveries" they have a hard time believe that an intelligent merchant would not ship to Canada. Nigeria or maybe Columbia, or Nebraska, yeah, they might relate, but Canada? No way!
If it is any consolation, I do avoid commerce with vendors who include the "No international shipments" in their adds.

I order stuff from China, Japan, Taiwan, etc all the time. It always arrives ridiculously quick and for pennies.
Hell, swmbo just ordered a huge assortment of nail air stuff (like... fingernails. I know, i don't get it either.)
It came from China.
It was $1.99. SHIPPED.
Got it in 9 days.

Pretty much sums up why any company would refuse international shipments.....

This blows me away also. My daughter is in to fashion (clothes) in a big way. She shows me all the adds from the States that show "No Canadian Shipping: or like "Add $50 for Canadian Shipment".
Her response has been to buy all her stuff in Asia. For some reason, there is no problem getting stuff from Korea or China shipped over postage free or very cheap and no $$$ due upon arrival. Wish I could order my MG parts from Korea!
There's a reason Canadian healthcare is "free". It ain't because they pay less for it.
Some Canadians make the Aussies look like harmless fuzz balls in comparison.... "It's only Canada." "Don't ship UPS or FedEx because they gouge us on brokerage and while you are at it, mark it as "XXX" and the fees will be less." Nevermind the fact that if you get chosen to be inspected.....
Tell your damn government to quit being a bunch of silly sad sack hosers, ya bitchy Canuks....
Actually, the per-capita cost of healthcare IS lower north of the border. But that's not really germane to the discussion.
Shipping cheap stuff via USPS is quite a bit different than shipping valuable stuff via courier when it comes to paperwork. FYI. I know those who don't do this for a living think it's super-easy and simple and we're all retards - but you're welcome to come work in our shipping department for a few weeks to learn otherwise.
