I didn't think Atlanta was bad...spend 8 hours in there back in January. Better than Detroit or my lil local GRR

I forget which NY airport Jet Blue flies into......it's a separate terminal with nothing going on, usually accompanied by a long lay over. Maybe take up drinking just this once?

You've obviously never been stuck at O'Hare.
So, Lesley, can we expect the following in small italic type at the end of your report?
"Travel was arranged for freelance journalist Lesley Wimbush by the manufacturer, AND IT TOTALLY EFFING SUCKED!!"
Atl is fine if your only flying through. That way you don't have to use the over complicated check in and take a train somewhere else to get on a plane to another somewhere else system. Newark is my least favorite layover, everyone that works there, from security to the food court people, to the airline people are just rude to everyone. AND everything is delayed leaving there for no reason.
Favorite airport, due in no small way to the fact that I'm always there on vacation, is west palm beach florida. One of the 10 least busy airports in the country. Check in and hang at the bar outside security till about 15 minutes before boarding, breeze through security and walk straight to the gate and onto the plane. Almost totally painless.

Yes, I have, but I've seen worse - ever been stuck at Gimpo in Seoul?

Hey now. That farmer got a lot of E36 M3 done 'round here.
I think the worst one I was ever stuck at was Bristol regional. It was BRUTAL. Though, the security guard DID let me have all the confiscated lighters since I wasn't getting back on a plane any time soon.
In reply to mndsm:
Score!
And Strizzo's right about ATL if you're just changing planes (as long as they're on time--otherwise you have to do all the train stuff like someone mentioned).
It can be a PITA if you live here, though. After your "don't steal my E36 M3, or I'll kill you with my bare hands" stare-downs on MARTA (or the equally stressful process of emptying your wallet in the long-term parking, should you care to drive) and the pornographic barefooted pat-down by TSA to get into the "just flyin' around" section of the place, you have to put up with your fellow passengers who are absolutely astounded to discover that people actually live in Atlanta. They all seem to love the place, and don't understand my "problem" with it.
It's like one of those Jamaican resorts where everything is rainbows, butterflies and free Scotch & Water, once you get over the razor wire that separates the place from the locals.
I_berkeleyING_HATE_HARTSFIELD. Everybody does...which is why the whole experience sucks. It's funny to go to a tiny airport like Tampa and watch people get all upset. Worst ev_ar is Puerto Rico, IMO. Habla Ingles? Eat E36 M3 and die.
My all time least favorite is Miami International. RUDE, if you only speak English, you're in trouble. Odd, Ft. Lauderdale International is only 35 miles north and is a very pleasant place. Also only 10 minutes from my house. My favorite is Tampa, then Grantley Adams in Barbados. Nice places.
I fly O'Hare a lot. You can walk between all 3 terminals without leaving thru security and easily complete your 10,000 daily steps.......I got stuck in Billings, Montana once. 12 gates?

There is a new terminal there. Looks like every other small, recently built airline terminal.
Got weathered in at Atlanta for 9 hours once. The next time it happened we rented a car and drove 4 hours home. Got stuck overnight in Seatle once. And stuck several hours at other places.
Helena, Montana doesn't even have that many gates. Jamestown, ND has only 3 gates and the same people that check you in also screen you and load/unload your bags. The rental car company only has 3 cars and they operate out of the local Ford dealer.
Your travel mojo is working full blast, grounded or not, because we had a couple of sparkling fall days and now it's raining like crazy.
You'll need to log in to post.
