I think OEM is in a totally different category. But hey, is a JDM Sleeper under Sleeper or JDM?

You sir, are a mind reader.

Minus the stickers, I have to say that car looks really good. Free of function (unless it's on airbags), but pretty sweet, IMHO.

rolling Pachinko machines
FTFY

VW - check
Staggered wheels on a FWD - check
"illest" sticker - check
only think missing is a shocker sticker to complete the cookie cutter VW scene these days.
Are roof racks and rusty body panels no longer cool in the VW scene? I remember staggered wheels on FWD VWs becoming popular in the early 2000s, first time I saw that I was thinking "WTF? You're an idiot.".
The roof rack/rusty panel thing was 3 years ago. Still remnants of it, but it all spilled over into the "stance" scene. I haven't visited stanceworks in awhile, so I'm out of touch with what's most current with the kiddies at the moment.
Spinout007 wrote: I thought that was stance or stanced out or just stupid. The whole tire stretching thing is kinda boggling.
Same thing. "Stanced" cars (i.e. ones set up for "hard parking" instead of driving) have a lowered stance. Basically, they are all lowered with stretched tires and minimal fender/tire gaps. (i.e. the tires are "flush" with the fenders.) The only way to drive them is to put rock hard suspensions on the so the wheels don't move and rub the tires on the fenders.
"Hella" = "very" in west coast slang. Cars that are "hellaflush" have tires that are VERY close to the fenders.
"Herra" = "Hella" + mocking Japanese accent (used when Japanese cars are stanced)

Yes, we have discussed it before

There are a LOT of different styles lumped together under the umbrella of "Bosozoku". (See link above to our previous discussion.) I'm not sure about the origins of the exhaust setups, but both of the cars you hotlinked had body styling designed to to mimic the appearance of the old Group 5 race cars.
Nissan was kicking butt back in the day, so that era is remembered fondly by Japanese car enthusiasts
BTW, we also do the "my ordinary car looks like a sporty race car " thing.....low profile tires were originally designed to reduce sidewall flex due to cornering forces in motorsports. They were nice and grippy. Now, look at the treadwear rating of low profile tires at your local tire shop....I bet they are over 240.
Just sayin'

But I'll bet that those 240 tread wear tires work better than the highest performance street tires of 25 years ago, while riding better and lasting longer. I don't think people realize how far tires have come in the last 20-30 years, which is why I think 'stock class' autocross needs to drop R comp tires and go puerly ST tires.
I would agree on the tires, but, since I have not autocrossed in over a year, I'm not going to raise a stink about it.

Because you don't want the engine to be capable of moving it at all?

If you do raise the question of R-comps in stock class, you'll get a dozen parsimonious old farts screaming about how the rules have been carefully crafted over decades of debate, and that newcomers shouldn't DARE to question them.
If you look at some of the JGTC touring cars, some of these Boso cars really aren't THAT far away from what was running around in that stuff. Nissan in particular was running some seriously whacked out E36 M3.

When we were driving back to the base after partying all night long in NYE, we would see them all tore up on the side of the Shuto expressway. Police would put up barricades to get them off the road.. It was fun!
Really? I always wonder how they got away with these things on the road. Don't see many people trailering cars over there.
