So I've had a pretty constant stream of problems with the garage doors here, to the point only 1 of the 4 here still works.
Except the one that does work is no longer responding to it's keypad. I replaced the battery in the fall when I was needing to hit enter multiple times to open it, but now it doesn't do anything at all.
The button on the inside of the door opens the door still.
What should I be chasing? Broken wire somewhere? Could the battery have died that fast?
Yes, battery could have died that fast, especially in a cold climate.
My in-laws keypad needs excessive force to operate. I take a key or a screwdriver or something, push each number with that, hard, then push the enter button... Sometimes if I hit the enter button again, if it didn't work the first time, it apparently has had enough time to think about if I did hit all the right keys in the right order, and it will then operate.

Replace them with carriage doors it is then. If an $8 battery can't last 4 months after the previous one last at least 2 years, it's useless. At least with carriage doors I won't get gaps on the bottom.
I was having issues with mine where it would take several remote presses, even with fresh batteries, for it to operate. Had a repair guy out for an unrelated broken spring (I was unwilling to deal with that), he indicated that most garage door openers dont play nice with LED lightbulbs in their sockets. Switched out to an incandescent bulb and its working right now, so there must be something to that... (what it is, I havent applied the brainpower to understanding)

All that stuff is still original. I'm more leaning towards a wire got ripped out. These weren't installed professionally, unless it was by a professional that hated the previous owner.
Plastic gears that exploded, one of the sensors on one of them caught fire one day, gaps everywhere, wire run through the tracks.
Garages aren't big enough for cars to fit in anyway.
My folks keypad needed to "re-learn" every couple of months, good batteries or not. Finally just bought a new keypad and its been trouble free so far
