You guys are creative. Here is the deal. The Tunachucker LTD is a smaller brake booster and ignition wires away from being a truly race ready car that's fast and fun to drive with no evil handling traits whatsoever. We are even planning on some stickier tires. It's that easy. The race is in late September, and it will likely be the quickest to prepare for, the cheapest to enter, and the most fun to drive Tunachucker entry to date.
My wife is due with #4 in November. My Mom, the closest relative at only five hours away, is on valium and walks with a cane due to some weirdo health issues that likely won't be resolved at that point. Nobody else related can get there that is worth anything against my three boys. Our babysitter/Nanny mostly stinks at this point. We have three boisterous boys in addition, ages at that point will be 4, 2 7/8 and 1 1/2. I foresee no way to get to the race. My wife makes a terrible cranky person, and the house may only be a crater if I left them alone for a long weekend.
Be creative, folks.

A bit late for that, yes?
If you keep at it, you'll have a baseball team in no time.
Can you switch nannies? We've gone through that unfortunate experience more than once. Maybe you can find someone better.
If not, perhaps hiring a babysitter/mothers' helper for the weekend. Try websites like www.sittercity.com or www.care.com. If you can get someone to come in 5-6 hours per day while you're gone to help the wife out, that may work.

The plot is thicker than that. The Nanny is gone as of May, when my Wife's teaching job ends for the summer and forever. We aren't on a Nanny hunt for that reason, just six more weeks left. I am sure she'd come back and help, but she just isn't very good with the boys anymore. Long story.
My wife would feel super uncomfortable with someone she didn't know around the house, and the boys would likely not react to a stranger, especially with sleeping, napping and eating. Her sister is the closest thing I can think of, but it's not a slam dunk, because she's not very kid knowledgeable.

... ummm, take them with you?
Oh yeah, three little ones, a 6-month pregnant wife, and a Lemons race. Sounds like a great combo to me! Assuming you're aiming for torture and marital discord.
Sorry I can't be more helpful Tuna, but I'm not going to suggest that you take them with you. In fact I'm going to suggest that you don't!

I hear ya. I can handle two kids myself at a Lemons race, and I have before, but I keep them on a tight leash. It's a very dangerous event for kids in the pits, more dangerous than any other form of motorsports in the pits, I'd say. I would never let her deal with three at a time, eight months pregnant, especially this young. They could maybe take two hours of it, and then they're ready to go, and not in the nice, polite, "I'm kinda tired Daddy" way, either.

Totally understand on the nanny thing. We've had a nanny or two where we're just counting down the days until they're done.
With the sitter thing, you'd have to start planning ahead, as in right now. Start looking now. Find someone you like, and have them come over and babysit a few times per month. That way, by September, they'll be familiar and it won't be a "stranger" anymore?
Suck it up and skip the race? There'll be more time for racing. Divorces are expensive.

I say leave her with the kids. You probably need some time to do your own thing anyway.

I do, but I did that the previous race. Eight months pregnant with three little rugrats is harder than you think. It's hard enough without the pregnant part, and that's pretty bad from the sound of it.
Rent an RV for the family, bring them all along. Keep them contained in the RV as much as possible.
The other answer would be a sister wife!
Lets see.
Higher three baby sitters for the boys and send your wife to one of those all day spa things that wives like so much.
IT is either that or apply liberal amounts of duct tape.
Doesn't sound like a whole lot of viable options. It certainly sucks, I can feel your pain. I'm running the LeMons race this weekend. This will be my first time on track in about 7 years, due to the whole family/kids thing. Even with this, it's probably the only event I'll make this year. It sucks to not go racing, no way around it. But as the phrase goes, it is what it is.
To top of my exciting weekend...not only is this going to be my first time on track in years, I turn 40 years old on Saturday. So I'm going to be spending most of my "big 4-0" b-day away from my family, the wife is bringing the kids to the race for a little while. I owe her big time.

Wife gave me an early 30th birthday present yesterday. Her sister is coming over during the race weekend and she told me to go. Best birthday present ever.
Sounds like a keeper! What's her sister look like?

Ah well, glad you got it worked out!

Awesome!! I just turned 40 on Saturday, and spent my weekend at my first LeMons event. My wife watched the kids all weekend for me, and even brought them to the track on Saturday for a little. It was the best birthday I've ever had!
Enjoy the race!!!
You're 30 and are about to be on kid #4? You're crazy!
