Is it legal to openly carry an air horn, or do I have to get a concealed carry permit?

FTFY. And yeah, when there's no girls by the pool, your the "prettiest" boy around, and you KNOWINGLY ingest the pills, you are kind of asking for it.

uhmm... Not sure what's going on here. Now I am glad we didn't meet up at CMP, though.

I'm from South Dakota, a state that passes gun laws which violate Federal ones. I know several people who have applied and been granted rights to carry their concealed handguns on a nearby campus.

For whatever reason, the same words that come from a cop or other expert will carry more weight than when you say it. For years, I have preached practicing scenarios with my wife such as what gun would you grab if there was someone in the house and her (wrong to me) answer was a certain .38 chiefs special. When she went to a class, they preached using a shotgun which was always my answer. Unless you are gut shooting someone, you might as well throw the chiefs special at an intruder considering your chances of hitting the perp at a reasonable distance. There are now two barely legal shotguns in the house. So, what's the spread on your "legal" shotguns? Something tells me that it's not very much.

Look about 8min into the video. Here's a normal 12ga loaded with 00 buck at about 20 ft. I'm assuming that you're not using bird shot as a defensive round. Yeah, it hits a bigger area than a pistol, but you still need to be able to aim. Training is key. I dunno how big the rooms in your house are, but you're probably not going to be 20 feet away from an invader.
I am always shocked at how quickly these types of discussions involving you folks from the USA immediately move towards get a gun. I guess I should stop being shocked all the time.
Anyway, I work on a campus and I can tell you that I know of very few that DON'T have a Safety Walk program (or whatever they call it). Most of them get very few calls. Tell your girlfriend to use that service.

Aren't rights awesome?

We could point him to crime statistics in places like Washington D.C. and Chicago, but why try?

Kind of misleading though, crime isn't done with legally obtained guns/people carrying permits.
The crime issue in the US is (IMO) for completely different reasons, but yes, you basically can't compare even the worst of the worst Canadian cities to some places down there. People think it's bad that 30 people were murdered in Edmonton last year for a population of 1 million.
Also, rights are an illusion, whether they have whole heartedly been granted to you "permanently" or otherwise, they are nothing more than an idea. Our "rights" are quite different here in Canada, but statistically it is MUCH safer here. So yea...

Make guns illegal in the US and nearly nothing would change as far as safety.

I'm actually pretty sure that is my point? Thank you for agreeing!

I'm well aware of that, but you're still missing the point.
I still call for nationwide gun licensing.. with all Highschool seniors being required to get it (unless they opt out for "moral" reasons)
Guns, knives, and pepper spray to walk around a school? I'm glad I quit college and went to work in Harlem instead. All the worring about being raped would make me sick.

I am not anti-gun, my dad was a hunter (so is my FIL) and I grew up around rifles. I have shot plenty of different rifles. I also opposed the (now dead and hopefully stays that way) Long-gun registry here in Canada. Legally owned long-guns are rarely ever used in crime and normally only when they have been stolen.
I just can't see how everyone packing heat is the answer to everything.
I got my girlfriend to get her CHL and bought her a Charter Arms Pink Lady....she loves pink what can I say...
Always wanted to shoot one of these. Just once though. Can't imagine its one I'd want to live with. 5 shot, shoots .410 2.5"/3" shotgun or .45 Colt or .454 Casull.
They don't have a pink-framed version, but you can get pink grips!
