It's car-related but hardly motorsports-related so I guess it belongs in off-topic.
I have a lot of trouble bringing myself to pay for a repaint which costs a lot and isn't really necessary, but the new engine's valve cover and calipers that are going in are going to be painted so the time to make visual decisions is now (you can see pics in my garage).
The car had a black and gold theme from the factory and I've been thinking of sticking with that: Black valve cover with gold lettering, black calipers with maybe a gold '80s "TOYOTA" logo stencilled into them.
A less flashy option is a black valve cover with white lettering and black calipers with white '80s "TOYOTA" logos. These would match the logos on the front and back of the car.
The more plain option is plain black brake calipers and a black valve cover with unpainted lettering.
Gold rims are one of those things that either end up looking really good or really bad. Stick with silver or try gold?
yep...JPS is exactly where my mind went as well

My cobra calipers are painted gold on the '91.....goes well with the gunmetal OZ's in front.
Red brake calipers and black/gold t/a's are ghey afterall.......
white/blue t/a's look much better
I'll have to do some mockups later, the thought of running the JPS/Lotus/Bandit livery on the street is making me feel uneasy, it really screams "LOOK AT ME!"
maybe not full on livery, but metallic gold accents on gloss black is dead sexy
Im also a fan of pearl white and bronze
Yeah, don't go full livery. Just do black with some gold accents and maybe some of the pinstriping. It would be subtle and cool without being "flash".
Jeez, all this talk about black and gold, but no Black Gold?!

I hate gold too, but I make an exception for black cars with gold wheels and tasteful stripes. That exception does not extend to phony gold plated badges on toyotas and lexus.

You went 4AGE right? If so, what I wanted to do with mine was paint it, sand the tops of the letters down so they were silver and then hit it with a coat of high temp clear. The idea of gold letters isn't bad either.
I like the black and gold idea. The 80's "TOYOTA" is a great idea for the calipers.
Gimmie a a big enough shot of the car (or one comparable) and I'll photochop it any color you like. FOR FREE!
