I got a call to do a detail to remove some scratches from a car that met a garage door. From what I've heard (no pics yet) he mentioned that it caught the glass first and scratched the glass. Anyone have any experience on how to remove scratches from glass? I've used compound in the past and had OK results but there has to be a better way.

Very relevant to me

I bought some stuff called ceri-glass and some specific glass polishing pads to try and get out a scratch on the back windshield of my RDX. The scratch was too deep to remove completely, but it did smooth out the edges of it so my rear wiper works better and doesn't get cut by scratch. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time with it. It's a very slow process. And do the entire window you're working with, because you'll have one very clean portion and the rest will look like crap in comparison.

Scuffs will polish out with a glass buffing compound. If you can feel it with a fingernail, its too big. But if you can't, it should buff out with a TON of polishing. Eastwood makes a buffing compound that you use with a grinder or drill. A regular low-speed buffer won't do it.

Thanks for the replies folks. I did the detail this morning, all but a few scratches caught my fingernail. I recommended he take it to a glass repair shop since it was pretty deep, I did use my buffer and a heavy compound and got a few of the small ones out.
