The Root Cafe - Kind of a hippy vibe, all locally sourced/grown tasty food (my folks provide a lot of the beef)
The Capitol Bar & Grill and/or Ashley's in The Capitol Hotel - Only 4 star in AR, Ashley's is a nice "classy" restaurant, The Capitol Bar & Grill is opposite side of the Lobby from Ashley's, much more relaxed with a few of the same things on the menu as Ashley's.
Whole Hog BBQ - Good Southern BBQ, some of the best in the state, their potato salad is out of this world.
Corkey's BBQ - Also Delicious, but Whole Hog's potato salad is better.
Apple Spice Junction - Gourmet Soup & Sandwich place, they bake all their own bread.
Cache - In The River Market, Supposed to be great, haven't tried it yet. Have heard great things about their cocktails.
Flying Fish - In The River Market, great "Southern Seafood" i.e. Catfish, great hush puppies.
Cajun's Wahrf - Great Cajun food, we do share a border with Louisiana and have a lot of ex-patriots that defected north for a better... well everything.
Red Door - I've heard good things, no experiance.
Loca Luna - Pizza
U.S. Pizza Co. - Great Pizza, thin crispy crust like it should be, awesome salads & sandwiches.

The River Market is a fun place to be, a lot of shops, bars, and restaurants.

I'm sure I'll think of more. I need to go to a meeting.

Def. Whole Hog, especially the one on Cantrell. Hands-down the best restaurant barbecue I've had. Izzy's and Capers are good for lunch as well if barbecue isn't your thing. If you're feeling spendy, try Does Eat Place or Butcher Block. If you're downtown, also consider Your Mama's for a great plate lunch.

Cajun's Wharf is more than just Cajun food, great steaks too.

Butcher block is good, personally I've never been a Doe's fan, their steaks are okay, HUGE, like 1 steak can feed 2 or maybe 3 people, and their "famous" tamales are blah.

Sticky Fingerz Rock & Roll Chicken Shack - good wings typical bar food, fun atmosphere, can usually catch a live band of an evening especially on the weekend.

Slim Chickens - For good fast food, especially if you like chicken, think Zaxby's but eleventy times better. Seriously their chicken fingers are awesome, always fresh, never frozen, their sides are all good, and Slim's sauce is fawesome!

I listed off a bunch of stuff, but didn't offer...

I work in Little Rock, as does SWMBO, depending on day/time if ya want a don't want to eat alone we'd probably be able to meet ya somewhere. I don't know your itinerary but we've got a spare bed, electricity, and indoor plumbing, if you need a place to stay. About 30 min North (West on I-40) of LR.

Best Indian food I've had in the US was in little rock. Star of India in the strip center at the ne corner of markham and shackleford near 430 and financial center pkwy. Was so good both times I've been that some people in the group went two nights in a row. There's a whole hog cafe location over there too.

If you're downtown ish, doe's eat place (better be hungry) and Cajun wharf are really good, and not the typical tourist food you get in a lot of places.

Lee, you out in Conway? Ill be out there again this year around the end of October. We go two nights in russelville, two nights in little rock and then two nights in hot springs.

In reply to Strizzo:

Yes Conway. I'm a native, born in LR, raised in a tiny town about 35 miles East of Conway, moved to Fayetteville for college, stayed there for 10 years, SWMBO and I moved to Columbus, OH for 3 years, and just moved back to AR last August.

Family here? Not much to do in Russellville compared to LR and HS. Did you see that the old Majestic, Hot Springs landmark hotel burned down a couple weeks ago? It was beyond financially feasible to recover/restore, still sad to see such a landmark go.

No family, the company I work for runs geology field trips for oil and gas companies, and sends me along to make sure things go smooth.

I hadn't seen that about the majestic, if it had been the Arlington I'd say it was for the insurance, I've heard the place is for sale and not doing well. Beautiful hotel, but the staff couldn't find their ass with both hands. We stay at the embassy convention center now, not as much character, but the food turns up on time.
