Yup, bought a hole in the water. 18' Starcraft bowrider w/ 4.3 Chevy power. Got it for challenge money from the original family. Bikini clad babes ride free, all others must donate beer or gas

I think that a boat and/or "a place up north" is mandatory for Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota residents.
BTW; Nice looking boat. That's what I would get - none of those fishing type boats. Lets ski AND go fast.
I always thought it was Grassroots Motorboats. But I guess that carries an entirely different connotation.
If it has a motor, the title of this thread is a lie!
One of my former coworkers called his boat "135" because he said every time he had to pay for something it was $135. Fill it up with gas - $135, dock fee - $135, getting a tag for his trailer - $135, and on...
Enjoy your hole!

You do realize... any SBC will bolt in, right? Mercruiser Alphas will take 300 hp. Penta and OMC outdrives can take 250-275hp.
Just adding some nitromethane to the fire.

We went to the lake with some friends a few weeks ago, I'd buy a big powerful pontoon boat.
They had a Bennington with a 250hp outboard. Plenty enough for 9 people to be on the boat with 4 ice chests and still comfortably have someone ski behind.
Great boat.
Then I got online and saw the MSRP on the boat we were on was ~$70k
Congrats. I too prefer open bows.
I just have an old fishing boat but its mine and it doesn't cost me much to operate.
My dad always had a boat so I pretty much grew up in one.
If I were in the market for a boat, which I am not, that's almost exactly what I would be looking for. Good get.
Did that price include a trailer?
co-worker of mine just bought a brand new boat. 24 feet, 300hp outboard, centreconsole with portapottie... $90,000?!?!!!!

Yep.
Uhhhh YES. Looks like a fun boat. The only good boats are ones you have the least amount of money into. Open bow is definitely the way to go.
Keep us updated. I am in the market for one for next summer, and plan on shopping once fall weather hits and people don't want to store over the winter. I am looking for a 16' open bow myself, Bayliner made a nice little one with an outboard or inboard. (I like the outboard option because I can just pull the existing POS and drop in a whole new one if need be).
