I think i may run The Pig tonite in an effort to stick with Turdbeast and the FTO drag rocket if i can have time. I haven't practiced at all, been busy, but i like this track, and will be trying to hit 200mph in The Pig.

T.J. wrote: My issue is lack of torque I think, so at high speeds my acceleration is a bit glacial. At least I think it will be compared to some of the other hh's. My guess is the FTO (if Apex runs it), the Foci (either one), the Volvo, and the C4 will all have 10 mph higher speed at the end of the straight than me.
I'll lift my skirt and show you where 1 of the "Foci" is at:
Brad, I did finally find "the other" Focus. As your pic shows, it came up almost 100hp short of the "fat" Focus. Strangely the large amount of extra weight for the Fatboy doesn't seem to affect the handling much, although I do think I give up a bit in braking.
I am suspicious Ford may have thrown a bit of extra green at Sony to make the Focus a bit more then it might otherwise be.
I was listening to some other players chatting the other night, and they were observing that the NSX seems to be a lot faster then it should be in the game. Of course the WRX in the early GT's was ridiculously fast. I am suspicious this had a lot to do with the current popularity of the WRX. GT payola?....
Then again, Acura doesn't even even make the NSX anymore. Maybe fanboy inflation?
In reply to BradLTL:
I think my hp peak is about the same value, just a peakier curve. I think my torque is way lower, but I don't remember off hand what the number is anymore. I'll check it out.
In reply to aircooled:
The draft was huge at LeMans. It seemed like you could get sucked along even if you were a ways back on the Mulsane straight and end up 10mph faster at the braking point. At Fuji it just doesn't seem to matter as much. I could see a difference at Nurburgring last week on the straights between drafting and going solo in terms of top speeds on sections.
aircooled said: P.S. - I can't believe Brad made us run this course in high HP rear drive cars with comfort tires! What a sadist!
Wouldn't that actually be sado masochist? After all, he runs with us. But we love you Brad
Oooh, that is a bit peaky. Mine is more like Brads, pretty flat.
I did a small amount of testing at lunch and you CAN get a cut penalty for going into the run off areas (at least the one after the last turn). So be aware.
Scratch that, Turdbeast doesn't have "almost 370 ftlbs and a fairly flat band" with a mid-range turbo, Turdbeast has 386 ftlbs on a friggen mountain peak around 4500 rpm and a pretty flat 404 hp after peak tq.
No wonder it's horrible on sports with a mid-range.
I might need a last minute backup for the room. Family stuff, I am not even home yet and there is still a baby bath in my future.
Any help?
Note my peak torque is only 243 at 7900 rpm and my hp is pretty peaky. Not complaining really, I mean I picked this car and all, but I get blown away on the front straight.
Gonna be a tough night for me in hh.
Apex, I saw you coming on the outside so I went further inside to try and stay out of your way, then you ducked to the inside and spun. Sorry man, I couldn't resist drafting pass you on the straight. You managed to not hit me so I only got rear end damage at T1 once in the Z06 race.

Tonight's races were unreal. Battles raging in almost every position for most of the race. I watched both replays after it was over and they were a trip. Yeah man, wish you could have been there to make life more interesting for air
I failed to save the Z06 replay. I remember a lot of laps driving around by myself again. I sorta wish I wouldn't have dropped out of the hh race, but I damaged myself on lap 4 and no longer could drive in a straight line. It was too early to pit without having to pit again for tires and I was just starting to bang into rmd too much since I couldn't hold a line. So I dropped out before I took the both of us out. Without the damage it would have been a blast as I could catch up and or pass rmd whenever there was a strong braking zone, and he would retake or extend the lead whenever there was an acceleration zone. I managed to drive most of the first half of the vette race with minor rear end damage, but that damage barely made the car turn right and was manageable. My hh damage was much harder to control and caused by what felt as way less contact.
It was a trip seeing almost everyone in a bunch on lap 10.
I wish my internet hadn't dropped me... i had just finally gotten a handle on the HH race. Think i was in 2nd or 3rd when i got dropped because everyone in front of me but one person had pitted. I was going to gut through the race without a pit stop, still had over half my tires left at the start of lap 10.
RealMiniDriver and i had a nice battle going on. I'd like to apologize for some of the weird lines i took, though. I wasn't trying to block you, but i have no idea how to drive that track.
Wow, that was some great racing last night. For some reason I did not pay attention to my starts in either race and ended up dropping a few spots at the start in both races. I don't mind really though, it makes it much more interesting.
I am not sure what happened to Apex in the Vette race. He was well ahead and I saw him pulled over at one point. Brad and I had some fun dicing it up without him though. The draft was almost ZERO for the vettes. I was right on Brads butt at one point and barely got any pull from him. I did end up with minor front damage on the first lap when I went long on a corner because I saw someone charging up behind me and I was trying to avoid the collision. In retrospect that probably stupid since they would likely have ghosted anyway (if he was even going to hit me).
HH was the killer race! Got another bad start but quickly got into the top 3 in the first turn. I think it was Me, Apex and Bael (silly white French looking car). Boy did we have some crazy close (and very clean) racing going on for a good two laps! The car Apex used would have been a MUCH better choice, it actually turned!
I did tap Apex pretty good at one point (hopefully no damage) as the result of me not braking as good as the other cars (the only apparent disadvantage of my weight). I was actually going for an little "hey I am here" bumper tap, but missed that and couldn't back off far enough for the turn.
The draft in HH was CRAZY! I had a two car draft battle going with someone (Bael?) and someone else (who had obviously been working off of both of us) came FLYING by at what must have been 30+ mph. You could get a decent draft a long way back.
I have to say, I was very surprised with Brads car. It was actually pretty fast on that course (giving up 50+ hp to my car). He was right with me in the twisties. I could see he couldn't keep up in the straight though, but I need to stay far enough ahead of him because I knew if he could get a good draft he would easily stay with me.
The HH result for me was pretty much what all the other races have been. Get a bit of a lead, and around lap 6 or so everyone's tires start going away and I pull ahead. The entire field apparently pulled into the pits on lap 8 or 9. I waited a lap and pitted, coming out of the pits as the "clump" was entering the straight. I have to say, seeing that massive clump of cars made me want to slow down and get in on the fun. That must have been a wild time going down the front straight!
Stupid, stupid me. I forgot to save the replay for HH, arggh. That would have been fun to watch. Hell, if only real car racing were as interesting as that, would make for some crazy interesting TV.
Also, I HOPE someone noted the finishing order, Brad? Because I forgot to do that also. I know who finished first in each race (ahem), but I am not to clear on the other places (I know Brad was second in HH).

I was running a close 4th, electing a bit to not join into the fray. I figured that eventually someone would get it wrong and I could collect. It was a great view from my car though. You guys were all over each other swapping positions, lines.

That was me... didn't work out like I planned though. I gave the positions back to you exiting T1.

You were getting such a better launch out of the last corner, I would fall just out of your draft and spend the rest of the lap catching back up. I would have stayed with you longer, but we caught up to Grizz and I drafted his ghost car and missed my brake point a bit. I made the corner, but apparently clipped the inside curb too much and got a 10 second shortcut penalty.

I got both. I'll set the replay as a favorite, I think that means you can view it on my profile... right????
Z06= ac, Brad, grae, TJ, Grizz, RMD HH= ac, grae, apex, grizz, Brad, RMD
Intense! I think that's a pretty good description of last night's races. I saved both replays and saved the HH to my favorites. Did anyone get bored last night?
In Z06 I started from last place and made certain I stayed there coming out of T1 about 8 lengths behind the pack. I slowly began to catch back up and take advantage of other's mistakes without making any big ones and ended up 3rd. The highlight of the race for me was a battle with Grizz and air. We were back and forth for several laps and came out of the last turn 3 wide on one occasion. air taught me a drafting lesson early on and I finally managed to try it on Grizz. It worked but thanks Grizz for not booting me into the next county when I cut across your bow @ T1. I think you anticipated it. After the mid point of the race I realized I was getting into serious tire trouble and couldn't keep up the pace. I was trying to draw up to Brad. So I cooled it a bit and held onto 3rd.
HH was the most fun I've had since I started racing with you guys. I've watched the replay from everyone's perspective and we all were going for it the whole way. I pissed away a P2 grid position by watching the other cars and missed my braking point into T1, along with over half the pack. I was way to far to the inside into T2 and even though I intended to hold a tight line, I slid into Celica which damaged my steering so that it pulled to the left. I rode with Celica in the replay and it looked like his car was pulling to the rt. Sorry about that Celica. Using R tires in the first race and S tires in the second sort of gets the old computer confused. 5th. spot was a great place to watch the front 4 having at it. I think it slowly took a toll on tires and suspensions because I started gaining on the pack. It looked in the replay that I was the only one consistently smoking my tires. Did anyone doubt that I planned a pit stop? Apex came into the pits right behind me, pitted in front of me, and left first. I've already had a meeting with my boys this morning Actually, I'm sure it was becase they had to repair the damage. I don't recall exactly how I got by Apex but I worked my way up to 2nd. and had a much better finish than I expected.
Since the cat's out of the bag, is the upcoming Saloon race going to be spec. M5? My Lexus ISF is almost as fast and easier for me to drive. If I can make it ALMOST as fast as the M5, I'll run it unless a surprise shows up. I wish I could make one of the 4WD cars turn . . . but I can't. While I'm at it, I think my GT is going to be yellow.
I don't remember where we're headed next week but I hope it's at least this much fun.
Grae, you didn't damage me, so don't worry about it.
I DID get a huge chuckle out of everyone taking T1 real wide in the mad dash, though. I'm reasonably sure that if i had pushed at the beginning instead of staying back like i tend to do, i could have come out of that corner in 1st or 2nd.
I'm not sure if i like my HH choice, but it's probably just because i haven't made many races. On paper it seems to do everything right. It's VERY light, and makes a good amount of power (386 i think?) and seems to turn in very well, just doesn't hold a line that well. Probably the way i have it set up.
92CelicaHalfTrac wrote: seems to turn in very well, just doesn't hold a line that well. Probably the way i have it set up.
Nope... just an over-powered FWD.
I had a good time last night.
Z06: I avoided tagging anyone on the first lap, but trading what little draft there was with TJ, I bumped him, as I caught a little draft after he passed me on the front straight. Yes, I drafted. Just got into the rev-limiter before my braking point and it was all I could do not to plow into him. Damaged opposite corners. After that, I couldn't slow down in a straight line, so I had to pit for repair. From there, it was just sucking wind to the end. I did manage to only lose ONE lap, which I think was a personal best for me, until.....
HH: Starting from the back again, I was able to slip inside the Tangle at Turn 1. I slowly lost ground until I was comfortably at the back, where I had a good bunch of laps with TJ. TJ, I was unaware of any bumping from you. Right about the time he dropped out, everyone else pitted, allowing me to briefly move into second place. Everyone but 92Celica passed me, so we raced for a couple laps, before he got disconnected. I don't know what happened to Brad, but I caught up to him after I took on fresh tires. We had some good back-n-forth until the last lap. I drew a BS penalty at the chicane and Brad was gracious enough to slow down to wait for me. In my frustration though, I drew two more penalties. I did, however, finish on the lead lap, which was a first ever for me!
Yeah, some of the penalties were dumb. I overshot one turn, went past it, stopped, and turned around to get back into the track, and hooked a wheel on the grass way past the apex on the OUTSIDE of the turn, and got slapped with another 10 second penalty for my troubles. Lost an easy 20 seconds all told.
