Ok... so the Theme for Series 3 ended up being "Real". Meaning "real world", or all the tracks (except the RoC) exist in real life.
I did this for a couple reasons:
- Lowers the entry barrier to those who might not have as much GT experience as some of us.
- Race strategy is a focus: longer events, multiple compounds of tires, and letting go control of the weather (for some events) will reward those who show superior race craft
- Every track needed a pit lane
The RoC will be on my custom track... because I spent a lot of time tweaking it and d@mnit someone other than the computer will race it with me!

Nonsense, Upshift = X, Downshift = sq, Go = R2, Slow = L2, Steering = LJoystick.
Makes driving easier to do.
I don't drift any better with auto than manual.
Blargh!
I spent way too much time over the years with the traditional setup that i can't change now.
X = go
Square = stop
Circle = handbrake
R2 = shift up
L2 = shift down
steering = L joystick

I thought so too, but I picked it up fairly quick.
Even went back and tried it in gt4, it's much better for control unt speed.

haha poor guy yeah that sounds good
Ohhhh, that's a little harsh there Ben but still.....I manage lol
Post this in the wrong thread the first time, methinks.
Couple observations from last night's testing:
1) FTO is NOT a hatch. Fiat Coupe Turbo Plus is NOT a hatch
2) The developers' knowledge of engines is still wonky. Mazda 323F (Lantis) will only make 246hp n/a, 264hp turbo. This is laughable when compared to the RSX Type S's ability to make 352hp n/a.
Testing on Trial Mountain last night, only three laps apiece to get the best time, no real tuning other than throwing parts at the cars:
1) 7th gen Celica GTS - 1:35.xxx
2) RSX Type S - 1:35.xxx
3) Peugo 207 GTi - 1:37.xxx
4) Mazda 323F - 1:42.xxx
Still needing to test an ST202 SSII, Cyborg, and maybe get over my distaste for Hondas and try the Civic Type R.
I think the RSX might be a strong car. I remember an Aspec race where it showed up and it jumped off the line and I spent the rest of the race playing catch up. It was the computer so I won, but I tuned my car up a bit after that race.
I have a couple updates to the Admin Spreadsheet. I will work on them today. Also I may look to move it to Google Docs for easy viewing.
I think it could be strong on the tracks with more straight sections, but it's a bit of a dog to horse around some of the tighter corners. My exit speed in the Celica was often 10mph or more faster than the RSX, and i could brake a bit later.
It's just barely too heavy, i think. But then again, i didn't do much tweaking. Quite honestly, i had it set up 100% identical to the Celica in terms of gearing and suspension.
I'm REALLY bummed that the 323F sucks.
Oh, by the way, i WAS using the TRD Celica, because i couldn't seem to find a "normal" Celica GTS. The only difference with the TRD is that it comes with an intake, exhaust, and height adjustable suspension already, which are all things i replaced anyways. If that's no bueno, let me know. I figured it would be ok because TRD is actually a branch of Toyota, vs, Spoon, Trial, HKS, that sort of thing. More like a weaksauce M-edition Bimmer if you get my drift.
Administration Spreadsheet
No featuring Google Docs for online viewing.
I just wanted to jump in and claim my race number. I set up a Corvette yesterday and put number 99 on it. Why, because it is EXTREME, and my car is EXTREME...
...OK, the truth is, I was going for 00, but it won't allow that.
Did some hatch testing (did I mention I hate the FWD?). Anyway, it seems like there are a lot of cars on that list that are not competitive. Given my tendency for old school, I tried out a couple of older cars, NO way they can make enough power. I am guess there will be a short list of cars that will be competitive since most of the tracks are somewhat open (not Autumn Ring Mini that is).
? No filters in Google Docs?

I don't know... it's my first time.
It has a filter button, but is grayed out. Anyone more familiar want to help out?
I found it:
Change to List view, not sure how to change back though
For what it's worth, IMHO, I have narrowed down my top selection of HHs to: 1. 01 Acura Integra R; 2. Renault Clio Sport 2.0 16V; 3. Mazda Kasabi Concept; 4. Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, in that order. Unless something shows up that I want to test, I'll go with the IntegraR, I'd like to keep it black. Lots of pros and cons to all these cars but I think the Integra and the Clio are nearly equal but the Integra just looks so good . . . The Kasabi is a lightweight with a 1.3 liter engine but you can supercharge it. It handles better than any fwd car I've driven. aircooled, you might love it because it turns so good. Just a little down on top speed @ Lemans. Don't like the styling and you can't even put wheels on it or paint the originals. You can paint the body though. It's silver/gray.
I have #77 on my Z06. I may paint it black too.
At first I thought I'd keep my testing "close to the vest" but what the heck, there it is.
I haven't modified a Puegeot RC, Mitz. FTO GP Vers.R, Mits. Eclipse GT, & Toyota Celica SSII and prob. won't. Initial testing showed that they could be in the running but I'm tired of being broke and running laps @ Indy in my ZR71 Vette and GP car for credits. There are a few others on the list that look interesting but so far they haven't been available to me. I think I'm going to focus on make those top three cars as good as I can get them and make some set up notes for the planned tracks. I wish GT5 had a way to store set ups like some of the other racing games. Sure would save some time.

Like GT3? Yeah, I miss that too.
The C3 might be fun... certainly a interesting looking choice.
Yea, I have to write down my settings so that I know how to reset from track to track... they could at least least give us the A/B/C options that GT4 had.
Being broke? I have 10,650 CR right now.... I haven't had the time to run laps at Indy or even had the ability run B-Spec races (thanks PSN).

Has anyone else gotten the "Penniless" trophy?
Has anyone tried out the Puegeot 207 GTI or either of the VW Golf GTIs?

Yep, i tried the Puegeot 207. Was slower than the RSX and Celica. (ZZ231) At least with me driving it and with minimal setup. I think it's a possibility though, just not with me driving.
You all are thinking too much....this is going to be fun

Yep. I'm amazed at the amount of purchase planning it took for me to run out of money completely.
I have about 700 credits right now, but I've been watching Top Gear so any money I rack up will currently be spent buying and tuning big GT cars.

I had a rule, until I bought the FTO touring car, I was going to make sure I always had on million credits. I'm actually surprised I lasted 2 weeks before I decided it wasn't going to show up while I could afford it, and promptly blew a million on Hot Hatches.
I still haven't seen that damn FTO either.
