I am OK with that. Whatever makes the races as competitive and interesting as possible.

I am not totally against Grae using ABS either. He is obviously very fast, but one thing I have noticed (I have spent a lot of time following him or having him follow me) is that he seems to run out of tires a fair amount faster then I do. I am not sure if that is the skidding from braking or difficulty in being totally smooth with the controller (I know he tries very hard to be as smooth as possible).

So yes, for the next race lets let the controller people who are frustrated with the no-ABS braking control go with ABS and see what happens, maybe close racing!

Have we made a decision on the next series yet? Here are my suggestions agains, rephrased when some feedback on the other suggestions:

  • Shuffle Series: I like the idea, should we make the races shorter and run 2? The points could be either accumulated or averaged. That would give a better idea on who raced the best regardless of the car they were assigned. The races would be run back-to-back with a minimal break.

  • Versus: I still like the idea and have a 2 car class each tuned to a specific PP level.

  • GT300: How about GT500 so that I can drive the GTR Stealth GT500? That car is awesome around Spa and would love to spend some more time behind the wheel.

  • Touring Car: Based on the new DLC. The downside is that it requires another purchase, but we could look at allowing RM cars tuned to the same PP level for those who don't want to buy the DLC.

  • 453/1300: I was in a room at 453hp and 1300kg cars, where power limiters and ballast were allowed. The cars were a great variety and the racing fairly close. I ran an Evora with ballast added to make weight, passed and SLS and finished 3rd to a M5, a 458 won overall.

  • F-GT: Could be fun. I have one, I don't think I've ever raced it though.

I think we are pretty solid on a Shuffle series for one of them.

These are my thoughts on the Shuffle series currently:

  • Run a LOT of small races per night (maybe 5 - 10 races at 2-3 laps each). This allows the shuffle ratio to kick in and will certainly make for close races, and maybe some weird tactics. Pit stops will not be an issue in this series. Tracking points will be a bit of a bitch, but not terrible.

  • Use custom (racer created) tracks as much as possible. Custom tracks need to be locked and available at least 1 week prior to the race.

  • Modify the PP of the Shuffle based on the track and to make sure all levels are represented. I believe there are only 3 (300, 400, 500?)

  • Allow ABS for controller users and Brake Bias Adjustment for wheel users.

  • Leave Penalties to Low and Damage to High. If you get damaged, just do you best until the next race, it's only a few laps away. The one exception to this will likely be the the "Hell on the Hill" event at the A-Hole Mountain circuit .

For the other series, I am open, I want to see what everyone wants. I would like it to have the spirit of the series to date, as in, hard to drive (with the possible exception of allowing ABS for a few).

Air, you're right on both accounts about the tire wear issue. When I watch my own cars in all the series so far they issue much tire smoke during braking and I'm sure that my steering isn't as smooth as a good wheel user. If you watch the replays you can almost always see the typed of control system the player is using.

You mentioned last night that I should cut the corners closer. I know what you mean. That's why I was so far off the pace @ TM. When I first tried practice @ SS5 Rev. I would have answered to Harvey Wallbanger. I was so disgusted that I only ran a few laps. Last night was the most pratice I've had at one time. I no longer have time to practice much or really analyze how to improve. I used to break down the course into seperate segments and then find the rythm to each then combine them all. Now it's all a blur and I'm just running the track on instinct . . . dulled instinct. As an example of what I'm talking about is this morning I took my medicine for morning and mid-day at the same time. Two of the meds. definitely should not be taken like that. That really got my attention. I don't know if I can hold up to this indefinitely but I've got to try or the last of my mom's property and money will go to the good ole gov. for her care in a nursing home. I hope and pray that I can acclimate to this mountain of responsibility and stress. Anyway, I still hope to show up for the Wed. night races and as usual I'll do my best. Just saying, I'm not up to par and might be subject to do some stupid things.

How do you make sure your track is available to all your friends? If it's in your track section on your home page it's available, right?

One final thought. I tried to do a test @ SS5 Rev. to compare ABS and no ABS. I ran my best time by far without it. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get under 1:30 with it turned on. Honestly though, I'm not currently a good tester for this. I'm not sure if I'll turn it on Wed. night or not.

You have to actually set the track to online, you can only have one up at a time though. Last I saw you had Brads Moonshiner course up. Go into the track list, bring up the menu with the triangle button and remove that course from online and then you can put up whichever one you wanted.

-You guys might want to run ABS as well, like I said, shuffle events don't let you mess with the brake bias, so you'll have no ABS and brakes set to 5/5.

-I'll have to show you an Alaska track I made recently . Going the right way, it has a nasty climb that's steeper than Mt Ashole, going the other way, it has a DROP. I've never run the course with damage on, but the sounds I heard when the cars landed tells me that would be a bad idea. Plus, Vipers can't make it up the incline from a standing start, an Audi S4 fully tuned had trouble getting up as well. It's kinda like a roller coaster in the snow, with tons of banking and wide corners, it's really tough for fast cars. I might have to run a room with it tonight actually.

So, I need caffiene, the sheer number of times I've had to go back and fix something in my post means sleep deprivation is a bitch.

Wheels give you access to all you Setup setting (ABS, Traction Control, Brake Bias etc.) while driving. This of course means you have to do the adjustment on the run (it resets each race and usually you cannot change during the start countdown) which can be fun.

This may sound like a big deal, but I have only really used it for quick tuning and shuffle races. You could use it to help compensate for tires going away, but I am usually concentrating to much to mess with it (I may have used it ONCE in all our races)

Graefin10 wrote: ...If you watch the replays you can almost always see the typed of control system the player is using.

Yes, it is totally obvious when you get close to them, the front wheels will jerk from around. Obviously there is some sort of damper build into the system.

Grea and I did a bit of practice last night on the SS Rt5 Reverse:

Here are my observations for those who may not be able to practice much:

First off, coming out of the pits!! WATCH OUT!! The pit exit is very long and straight so it throws you full throttle at high speed straight into T13!!! You HAVE to be on the brakes or you WILL go into the wall.

T13 is a fun one have the long straight. Do NOT brake late, get on them early and you better like trail braking (ABS might save some controller people here). You can actually do a good drift around this corner, but for tires sake, taking it slower (braking early) is a much better plan.

T12 is also a slower is better corner which you can sort of cut through if you start is early enough.

T11 is one of the tricky braking corners. There is a bump RIGHT at the braking point, so it is probably best to start braking before the crest. Another fun corner to drift though (not suggested).

T9, do yourself a favor, go in SLOW.

T8,7,6,5 This is where I observed Grea running wide. They are sort of the Signature corners of this course. Solid walls inside and out that need to be cut as close as possible. Go through 7 too fast or too late...wall.

T2, 1 are both a setup for the straight away, exit speed is king. Watch the exit on that last kink before the straight though, I had a few cases where I JUST missed hitting the pit entrance coming out of it!! This might become an interesting factor as tires go away.

Front straight: Should be some good drafting here, make sure to leave some headroom in your gearing for this.

OK, I think the track "Origami Road" is available to you now. Will someone please check to see if you can upload it. You'll hate me, but please do it anyway.

I might even hate myself.

Just a tip for custom tracks... if you hate driving it, so will everyone else. Blind corners are the crests of hills are the staples of Course Builder, fight them with everything you have and your track will be better for it.

I started working on another track myself, I'm not 100% happy with it yet. It's fast, long, has a couple good corners, but is a let down compared to MSR.

Only if you are using the GT wheel. I am using the G25, and have no access to any tuning while in the race. Once in, my setup is what I run.

Ahhh poop! Now what do we do?

Well, I can try running without adjusting Bias, it might not be too bad, just go light on the brakes (I generally setup for a lot of brake throw).

Maybe we can do a quick test after the next race. Do a few Shuffles at one of the new (strangely increasingly psychotic) custom tracks.

If you missed my edit above, I said, "I may even hate myself". I haven't memorized the track either. Ran about 3 laps IIRC.

Well, you guys know i'll go with whatever is chosen, joining and staying connected is always my problem. I DO love Touring Cars though, so...just saying haha but shuffle is just tooooooo damn fun!

I guess i'm one of the couple that actually prefers no ABS on controller. I actually got quite used to it, it taught me how to approach corners better and to be easier on the triggers. I think it is better than just mashing the left trigger, which is easier. It's actually funny, I played on my buddy's console yesterday. He has the seat and the G25 and even with the whole setup, I couldn't beat my time with the SAME exact car and setup as when I did it with the controller. After my BEST lap, I was still half a second slower with the wheel and pedals and no ABS, now with ABS I did go a tad faster, but I mean a HAIR.

now drifting? ........... clucth kicking is so much fun!

awwwwhawhaw, well, this DLC is awesome! I like how it was so easy to get to, didn't have to take 13 hours for me, took like 3 minutes all said and done, thanks to that wonderful download center from the update

and well.....yeah....I bought the pack twice LMAO because i'm a dumb ass. But I figured then, well E36M3, I usually spend that same amount for food and stuff at Sheetz, so it's alright! I also got doubled of everything two each of the cars, and two sets of the paints......I am going to have a FIELD DAY with all that color change and especially, fluorescent

Race Tonight: Special Stage Route 5 - Reverse

As a reminder, controller users will be allowed to use ABS if they wish to see if we can get the field a bit more even. This course has a couple of turns that will likely benefit greatly from ABS (T13 and T11) so it should be interesting to see how it goes.

I should be on early so Grea, you should not have to do the setup this time. I will probably also have a friend over who may try driving between the races (he is a rank amateur at GT5) so if I start driving real weird, that might be it.
