I just remembered that I don't remember what we're running for the ROC. Just worked my way back to p 30 and then checked to see if it was posted on p 1 . . . nothing. So I decided to rely on those of you with better memories rather than keep searching.
So, what are we going to run for the ROC? The shuffle and TC races are for series 5 right? Man, I'm glad I don't have to take a history course right now. This is me taking a history course heavy on dates and names of obscure people or trying to remember where I put my checkbook or where my shoes are
I won't be able to make it, tonight. An old college buddy's mother passed away this weekend, and the visitation is tonight, funeral tomorrow. Can't do the funeral due to work, so will be attending the visitation tonight.
Have fun, everyone!

Was looking forward to another of your epic battles with Air tonight, hate to hear that you'll have to miss.
Hey Brad, please race tonight so Air can have some competition.
In reply to Graefin10:
I haven't been competition for Air since the first series. I will try to race tonight though. My son's first birthday is this weekend and we are trying to get our house in order to host 35 people, add to that I am working on a client project in Australia (think 8PM conference calls) and it is hard to find time. But I will try.
Tonight: Grand Valley Speedway Reverse - 16 laps
Looks like we might be light tonight. But a good chance for Grea and I to do some catch up with Hunter points wise. Grea and I can usually do some good dueling (until his hands or tires wear out) so there should be some racing going on. At this point I am not completely against doing necessary pit stops just to keep it interesting.
I will try and do an inventory of the custom tracks today. From what I remember we currently have:
A-Hole Mountain: Lets put it this way, the track was not named after the mountain in the middle of the track. (probably mid to low PP)
Bootleggers Run: A classic mixture of driving and booze, what could go wrong. (mid to high PP)
Origami: Take a track, add a few folds and banks, instant art. (mid PP) (I think Grea may have an alternate for this though)
Colon Flow: Hunters high speed flowing track. I don't think this is the official name, but just a guess based on gut impression. (?)
Big Sh*te: A combination of curves and straights all in a picturesque desert landscape. Half a lap of boredom punctuated by half a lap of terror. (low to mid PP)
I think F40 said he had a track (I will have to take a look). Who else am I missing?
Regarding ROC: We are going with NASCAR cars at SS rt7, 6 laps. A drafting extravaganza, trying to re-create some of the fun we had there in the first race. I didn't set up a second race, I figure we can just do a preview of the next series, maybe a half TC race, and a few shuffle races, just to wet the palette. It will give me a good opportunity to get pics of the TC entries.
Brad, if you could update the first page with this info that would be helpful.
I think i've got a track shared.... but let me see if i can come up with a better one. I'm not real happy with it.
So, anyone else notice the grip on all the GT original tracks seems to have disappeared after the Spec 2.0 update?
I swear, Grand Valley was never this much of a pain in the ass to drive fast on before.
I did notice with the RX8, braking into the first turn is a bit of an effort, do not late brake! This track can be a bit interesting with traction challenged cars. Of course going from TC cars to these cars can really mess with your head, its like driving on ice in comparison.
All I can suggest is the same with last week, go slow to go fast. You will get in a lot of trouble at this track trying to take corners too fast.
It seemed to me that the getting wheels off track or hitting curbs seemed a LOT worse in the Cape Ring race last week then before the update.
Which first turn? I haven't had any real trouble with the two sweepers after the straight, it's braking for the tight one after those that's been my issue.

Done. I think you ask me to do that before, and I just forgot. It's there now.
Well isn't this special? What little practice I had time for was on Fuji GT. So it's GV Reverse. Great! That's what I get for trying to scan the list and not actually read it. Come laughing and go laughing, isn't that what they say?
Hey, that's not too bad Grae... I just realized I have been practicing Grand Valley normal, not reverse! Doh!
I think I will be opening the room early tonight, I am going to need to do a bit of practicing.
I'm over here trying not to laugh at you two in the hopes that Karma doesn't notice me and frag my internet yet again.
Did a bit of a TC preview. Here is the first corner:
Someone brought a drag car to a road race.
It was a bit sloppy, the massive brake and handling difference were a bit hard to adjust to after the Saloon race.
Someone got punted on the first turn.
Someone also went from 20 odd seconds down to 8 seconds down in two laps.
Hunter that's the second time I've been responsible for damaging your car. I just got through watching the replay from inside my car and yours. I got no damage but the tap was enought to send you into the outside wall. I apologize Hunter. In watching the replay I could see that my using ABS was part of the problem. Naturally, I was braking deeper in this race than ever and I saw other controller users doing the same. I wanted to see if you lost internet connection or quit and I'll let you narrate your own race if you choose to. I fully expected you to pit and come back after us as you have before and felt even worse when I saw you dissappear. Another thing is I didn't follow the proper race etiquette by stopping and letting you back by me. Right or wrong the reason I didn't is because when I saw that you got front damage as well as rear I didn't see how my letting you back in front of me would accomplish anything. I'll be glad to accept a position penalty because of this.
Later in the race Air did the same thing to me with the same results but he DID stop and let me back by. I can't explain it but even though I sustained rear damage and apparently front too the car was driveable enough to run to lap 8 before I pitted. I actually think the fact that I hit the wall every bit as hard as Air hit me, which was NOT very hard at all, that "fixed" the car. Well, semi fixed anyway. What amazes me is that these little taps can and often do cause damage.
There was some very very close manuevering at the start of the Saloon race. I can't believe I squeezed my car to the left between Air and RMD. Hunter, that was a beautiful pass you made on me going in to the aforementioned turn. Air, you were acting with exceptional restraint and caution when possible passing situations occured. Grizz, you had the bit between your teeth for the first few laps. The replay shows your car glitching from side to side and forward and back. Air almost nailed your car one time when it dissappeared and reappeared right in front of his car. Weird! This looked like a very eventful race for everyone.
T.J., we should have thought to tell you that you could run ABS with a controller. I guess we were assuming that you had been scanning the forum thread.
The GT race had a very poor turnout with only 4 starters and one, RMD, dissappeared within a few laps. I managed to get the lead going into the first turns and then gave it all back when I got onto a curb that I KNEW NOT TO GET ONTO! Thus I went from P1 to P4 but with no damage. I eventually got back in the lead after Grizz and Air pitted. I knew my only chance for a win was: 1. to not stop and 2. for Air to hit something. Right. So I did my part by staying out but Air let me down by not hitting anything. So P2 was my result. I think that's the first time in Series 4 that I tried to do a no-stopper.
No problems Grae. I haven't been on the board here much at all over the past month. ABS would've helped me haul that heavy beast down for the tight lefthander (T3?) a lot better though...that was my hardest/trickiest braking zone on the track and where I had my only off and resulting damage. Maybe, just maybe, with ABS I could've stayed in 3rd, but who knows. I was just having fun playing the game again. What was this race 8 in the series or something and its the first one I made it to, so I'm definitely not too worried about points or standings.
I'm going to use the GT5-R R35 TC in the TC series. It will be #77 and if someone else uses it I'll paint my wheels a different color, maybe a blue to try to match the blue that shows up on the color shift part of the graphics. I don't normally like color shift paint but that thing just looks too good to paint. I know it can't match the likes of Grizz's Cerbera but I also knows that he has to master that beast for 25 minutes or so. I forgot I had a Cerbera but sure enough I have one, in green no less. I don't feel like trying to keep it under control for that long.
I think Hunter quit after he railed me from behind in the second set of the tight S-turns.
It might have been my fault... i didn't notice him closing the gap so quickly, and his car was WAY faster than mine. I braked for the second half of the turn, and apparently he didn't need to.
The Purple People Eater Drift Wagon was weird... It seemed extremely fast in some of the more technical parts compared to the front runners. (When i was chasing them after they lapped me) But just wayyyyyy too down on power for a track like that.
Oh well, i'm sure it made for some entertaining views for everyone else.
Not sure what i'm going to do for TC.
The car i was using last night seemed to work VERY well despite only being 579pp. My worry is that it'll fall behind once people really dial in their setups and get used to the cars. I think Air was the only one really giving me any trouble in it.
No worries, Grea. I was going to say, it was probably the difference between ABS and no ABS. I didn't get any rear damage, but the front was fubared. I had every intention of trying to catch you guys. After making the rest of the lap, avoiding Concealer's drifting at one point, I pit and came out around 53 seconds back. Uphill battle to say the least. I made up 2 or 3 seconds, then in between the last two tunnels tapped Concealer in the rear under braking. I am sure I hit the brakes first (I could be wrong, though), but, once again, I think ABS did me in. He stopped QUICK. And I, once again, had front end damage that would require a pit. Knowing I would be down over 2 minutes at that point, I decided to end it all and kamikazed the wall after the last tunnel and NickF40'd out of there.
I seem to attract this kind of thing. In another league I am in (we are racing the new Miata TC on Sport softs, fun!) I had qualified 4th, and got taken out on the first lap. I had bobbled a turn, and the other driver came down inside me. I didn't think he had the corner, as he wasn't along side me going in, so we entered the corner with him riding my hip. He ended up hitting me off into a sand trap on the way out, even though I left him room at the apex. I came out 16 some seconds down, and 2nd to last place (14th) as he had ended up waiting for me.
I think the common denominator is me. I am aggressive. I fight for position. And I try to hold mine. It results in tight driving, and that is risky business in a virtual racing world, just as it is in the real one. I didn't HAVE to pass you going into T3. But I saw an opening, and I took it. I could have given up my position in the other race, but I felt I still had it, so I simply made room.
So, I am learning a lesson. Control the aggression a bit more. Be smarter with car placement. We all KNEW that first corner was going to be dicey. But I HAD to make that pass. LOL. Next time, I am going to keep you on my outside going in.
