Had an interesting chat with my postal carrier today. As he was handing me the newest GRM magazine, he noticed my run down Miata sitting in the driveway and asked if I was going to fix that up to autocross?
Of course I told him that is the eventual plan once school is less hectic. He said that very few people get GRM on his route, but the ones that do always seem to have some cool stuff.
Thought you guys might like to know how a random person off the street views your magazine and readers.
Sounds like you should invite your postal carrier out to attend an autocross or rally cross sometime. I've always wanted to rally cross an aluminum bodied postal truck with its short gearing, minimal overhangs, and knobby 16.5 steel sidewalled tires.
That is cool. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like he read your copy before he delivered it!

It did seem to take a little longer to arrive this month than normal
My UPS guy always checks out my stuff and lets me know when he comes across something else cool on his route. He's asked me about GRM on many occasions. He's also sent people my way looking for roll cages. Last week I crossed paths with a guy who is in the middle of building a twin turbo LS1 in a Prius. He's never heard of GRM, but is big on LS1tech.
Had my own little bit of random GRM recognition the other day.
I was wearing my GRM t shirt while hanging out with some friends Saturday night when a friend of a friend stopped by and immediately commented "Oh, you read Grassroots Motorsports? That's cool, I've never met someone that actually reads that magazine." I was a little taken aback at first, because I know this guy is not much of a car guy, but I had forgotten he does graphic design and advertising stuff for Carlisle Events, hence the recognition. It was cool though, he said he had just done some work relating to the Mitty and was familiar with the Challenge, and then I went on to sing the praises of all things GRM for several minutes. Good times lol.
I wear my grm shirts all the time to the point they both look faded like crazy. Only once did someone point it out, and I bought a 323 GTX from that guy about a week later.
I've found it simpler if I describe my GRM friends as my car club, people understand that more. I haven't had a magazine sub in years though, but I steer people towards GRM all the time.
I need to slap a GRM sticker on my Duster, just to throw people off.

I thought this thread would have something about burning cars in hotel parking lots and racing Zambonis.
I'm kinda disappointed.
I was a little nervous before I clicked this--southern girls learn early that little good comes from people combining a name and the word "reputation." Super cool stuff here. Thanks!

At about $100 for 10 years, I'm not sure why you wouldn't.
Wait. . .. . You mean there are other people in the world that don't read GRM. .. . .

Sadly, yes, but it's best not to think about them, lest you get overwhelmed with pity.
I keep debating whether or not to sneak a pair of GRM decals onto the rearmost edge of the rocker panels on Mrs. WildScot's Focus. You know, forgiveness vs. permission...
i have gotten more people asking about the stickers on my subby then anything else. i still have the stickers from the 15 challenge on the car.....
It surprises me when I see references to GRM outside of these boards, in my mind we're a very small contingent of weirdos.
i once hears someone say "holy E36 M3, that's pretty berkeleyed up" using the proper words from the forum... it got my attention... i don't know if he was a reader or just someone from the forum because strangers are scary.
