I'm not a Taurus fan either, though I'd probably buy a Judge/Public Defender before I would spend S&W money on a Governor.

We've got a 1st Gen Taurus PT111 Millennium Pro 9mm, you know the one that fires a round if you drop it with one in the chamber.  I've never dropped it to try it out, yet. wink  That pistol is also more picky about ammo than anything else I've ever owned.  I mean, what other gun won't shoot white box Winchester, really?  I've considered taking Taurus up on the recall, but I don't really want a 2nd Gen Millennium either.  It was Jewel's first handgun, and a gift from her dad, so I can't sell it or trade it.

I will add some praise to the Taurus TCP that bgkast mentioned.  Shooting the Taurus TCP back-to-back with a 1st Gen Ruger LCP, I much preferred the TCP.  The LCP is a much more prolific pocket pistol, everyone and their cousin has one, but I was more accurate with the TCP, I preferred the TCP's trigger, and the recoil on the TCP wasn't as snappy.

I'd still buy a P238 were I in the market for a pocket pistol though.

I really like Beretta's, they go well with my Ducati's, an all the Alfas I had in the past.  I carry a Nano. It shoots point of aim, has never jammed (with the exception of some really crap range ammo I had that failed in everything I shot it through) and is light, slim, and compact. My wife carry's a Pico in .380, it's also a good quality gun.

Now that I ride a KTM 1190 most of the time, I may buy a Glock 19.

You usually get what you pay for. Snap On and Mac have rarely failed to get the job done. And when they do, the dealer takes care of it.

I also have a Walther P22.  People were saying they are crap and the slides break. I have shot around 20K rounds through it. The safety broke once after about 15K rounds. I sent the gun (several year old, no reciept) back to Walther. They replaced several parts and sent it back. Then, about 3 weeks ago, the slide broke. Sort of my fault because I didn't notice the compensator hade gotten loose and the slide was smacking it. I sent it the slide to Walther, they sent a new slide (took less than a week) They sent me the latest model slide,  unfortunately in stainless rather than black. I could have had black, but it would have been a few months to get one. Now I have a green, black, and stainless gun. No big deal, my son thinks it looks cooler.

So yes, the internet was right, the slides break. I don't care. I still like shooting it, and it made me the marksman I am.

Bersa Thunder 380 CC smallest print DA/SA & very light

No heavy loads because aluminum frame

I have one of these and I agree that it is small and light.  It has not been reliable for me at all.  I get ejection issues, the slide does not  stay locked back and will release itself when you load a magazine.  It has been put in the safe to stay, I carry a Glock 27 to replace it.  Glock is definitely wider, but other dimensions are very close.  I was really disappointed in the Bersa, it is a great looking piece and the size is perfect.

I have a 26, but the single stack Glock 42 (.380) is *so* much easier to dress around. And I actially shot qualifications with it a couple points better than I did with my duty Glock 19. It's just well-designed.

Another 26 owner here. It's about the perfect size for me, and conceals well under a jacket or sweatshirt, but I only carry it on rare occasion. I really like the couple of 42s I've shot though, and if i wanted more of a pocket pistol to carry every day thats probably the first gun I'd consider.

I'd probably be more interested in the P938, but the new P365 has my attention.

I'm in no hurry to add either to the collection, next on my list is Ruger's PC Carbine.

If you want all metal, the P239 is excellent.  Longer hand grip than the P938, but still has the "SIG" style controls.  The P290 has a plastic frame and no conventional safety.  The safety is the long double action only trigger.  For a carry gun, I think it's about ideal.

That new PC Carbine looks interesting.  I read an article on it in Firearms News (formerly SGN).  I like how they set it up to use different mags, including the Glock, which everyone makes.  I recently build a 300BO pistol, so I'm "fixed" for that kind of thing.  I just about have the ammo worked out for it.  I can make them myself for about 8 cents each, or right at 22LR pricing.

I got Jewels a late '80s Interarms made, Walther PPK about 2 years ago, I kind of dig it.  It's a little heavy for a carry gun, but she's got a big purse.

I've got 3 stripped lowers in the safe, one's going to be a Beowulf (have all the parts, just need to assemble), waffling between Grendel and 6.8 SPC for one of the others, and had originally made up my mind to do an AR9 with the other.

Now I think I'm going to skip the AR9 in favor of the Ruger Carbine.  I've half-assed tried to buy a Marlin Camp 9 a few times, owners have been a little too proud/delusional in their pricing for my liking, the Sub-2000 doesn't really float my boat, but I'm really into the Ruger, I think I've watched every Youtube video about it.

I've got a crap ton of 7.62x39, and only the one AK (WASAR), so I think I'm going to make a 7.62x39 AR out of that 3rd lower.

Taurus is looked down on by gun snobs.  I have some and I have no complaints.  They also have a lifetime warranty.  If you ever have a problem, put it in a FedEx box, overnight it to them, they fix it and FedEx it back to you.  Try that with a Colt.

This.  PT11G2 is a fantastic value.  There are dozens of very positive reviews online.

My only Taurus is a Judge. Love it, a ton of fun to shoot and is the one I keep in a biometric safe in the bedroom loaded with the Winchester PDX rounds.

My wife has been instructed that if she feels threatened to get it out, point it in the general direction, pull the trigger till it quits going bang, and then it's a pretty good club if it needs to be.

I joined a gun club and shoot IPSC and found that there are gun snobs just like there are car snobs. We made the mistake of joining a Mini Club with a *gasp* new MINI and they turned their noses up at us. Their reaction to your gun sounds like the same kind of people. I use a CZ Shadow 9mm and it's awesome.

Oddly, I have had a S&W Model 19 (4" blued .357) that went out of time and split the barrel (required a gunsmith to disassemble + a new barrel) within the first few hundred rounds.

Love me my Glocks. They have all been flawlessly reliable.

WOW to have a S&W revolver mess up that bad.... dang, but I concur with your summation of the glock... not considered pretty by many but they are great to shoot and so reliable. I love my 21 but it's not exactly an ideal carry gun.  I need to get a 19.

I have both the Kel-Tec sub-2000 and a 9mm AR that use the Glock mags, and I'll probably sell both towards the PC Carbine once a good folding stock becomes available.  Being able to fold up the Kel-Tec is one of my favorite features, but even with the red lion hand guard it makes any sort of optic kind of a pain.

In virtually all reliability tests, a semi-auto pistol has out-performed a revolver.  I can't think of a test in the last 100+ years that a government has done that showed otherwise.  Maybe the French.  There are some caveats, such as use new full power ammo that the gun was designed for, not reloads.

Apologies for bumping after 2 months, actually couldn't remember my login. :/

I am curious as to if you noticed your Glock 42 requiring a break in period before it would reliably cycle JHP ammunition. Mine got sent back to Glock after 300rds didn't do it and it took nearly 600rds after I got it back before it started feeding right.

On a note from the last page, I did finally get the hop up parts on the CZ p-09 and holy crap is it good now. Trigger is probably 1/3rd of the travel, no takeup, crisp break, and something around 3lbs SA & 6lbs DA.

I decided I'd try out a revolution in pistol design and bought a Hudson H9. It's good, VERY good. 12 O'clock hold is weird for the sights, but I'm going to do a red dot on this one and get a H9A later this year for iron sight stuff(unlike XYZ manufacturers, they've been listening to input so they're adjusting the irons)

I have a Taurus Curve which is at the lower end of the price spectrum ($300).  I notice more hang-ups with cheap range ammo, but as long as I use decent ammunition it fires just fine.  I've put a few hundred rounds down range so far and never had anything scary happen.

My Beretta PX4-Storm Sub Compact will tolerate cheap ammo much better and I don't think I have ever had a hang up of any kind. So while cheaper guns may hang more, decent ammo should fix the problem.

I EDC a M&P sheild 9MM and love it, I have put 2500+ rounds though it including alot of E36 M3ty Russian steel case garbage. I have a SCCY CPX-2 in my desk at work and again, around a thousand rounds though it zero issue that were not ammo related.

I purchased a brand new Kel Tec pf9 compact 9mm. I feel i got a good deal.

When i took it to ccw class today, range instructor told me i wasn't allowed to fire it on his range due to them having a tendancy to jam, misfire, and explode.

I was looking at a Kel Tec in Louisiana and was told by my gun nut friend that Kel Tec built great fun guns but you didn't want them for CCW due to reliability issues.  Seems to be a problem with them in general.  Then again what is the rate of occurrence?  1/box 1/case 1/mag?  He cited his jammed at least once an outing.  He didn't sell it.  He never sold any of his guns.  He did enjoy shooting it, he just didn't trust it as a CCW

IMHO if I was looking for a CCW, I would it dead nuts reliable first.  Good luck.

Kind of off topic for the question, but are you looking at automatics only?  I have an S&W 38+p  (older version of the 637) that I would use to carry if I wanted to go that way.  Easy to hide, simple to shoot, dead-nuts reliable, and not horribly uncomfortable (I have big hands)

Just a thought.

I love my Taurus. It's the millinium g2. Put upwards of 500 rounds of federal cheap target rounds through it without issue. Same with my wife's ruger lc9. It was weird going from an old colt 1911 but I'm starting to like the stryker fired polymer guns.
