This is my shop on St. Patrick's Day. The cases of oil on the shelves are Brad Penn, which just happens to be green oil.

I'm having a bit of trouble seeing the attraction of a holiday that seems to be centered around vomiting in the street before the parade even starts.

Ah, the holiday that revolves around drinking in the manner that most most people stereotype the Irish to.

I've never understood St Patrick's Day and I love holidays. And I love going and having a beer too many with the boys. But why a day for it?

I have an Irish surname and great grandparents that came over from Ireland to Boston. I grew up eating green scrambled eggs for breakfast and then dinner was always corned beef and cabbage and my dad would drink a green beer. That was just how we did St. Patty's day. Since I've been an adult, the use of green food coloring and stinking up the house with cabbage is not something that happens in my house on March 17th.

My grandparents came over, he was a fireman, one of the jobs they were allowed here.

300 years before England colonized America, they colonized Ireland. The Irish Catholics have been fighting the English Protestants forever. The Catholics were treated like blacks were here, 2nd class citizens in their own country. Some day I'll sing you some of the songs my grandfather used to sing.....
