I have never seen a weapon hit the ground so many times... really WTF?

Another example of "Just because you can does not mean you should". A straight rifle, humungous powder load, unaware shooters. Pain.
Sitting down at the bench with something that knocks people out from under the ear muffs is seriously stupid. I have a buddy who is a big, strapping, "I don't fear recoil" type. He volunteered to sight-in another guy's .416 Rigby. First shot from the bench detached a retina. Finding yourself suddenly blind in one eye can't be too much fun.

I worked for Remington arms once as an engineering student. I thought doing some testing would be fun, so I signed up.
The first through 10 boxes of shells was fun. The 20-50th started to hurt.
Computer nerd, computer nerd, computer nerd, dude in pajamas, computer nerd, computer nerd, old guy, computer nerd, dude in pajamas, idiot, computer nerd, old guy, computer nerd. Interesting choice of shooters.
Who do you think is really interested in a gun that's basically a phallic substitute? Oh look, computer nerds!
I thought this post was gonna be something new from these guys.

Is Frodo holding that round? Looks like a case of "Find a dude with tiny hands to skew perspective" syndrome to me.
.577 compared to a .308.
And for more madness, I present to you the .950 JDJ.

At the point I have to shoulder fire that .950... I think I'd be hurt less if I shot myself with it.

Apparently it's exempt from the Destructive Device laws for "Sporting purposes". Why are you sporting with something that big?!

Oddly enough.... The elephants are gray.

Same reason people organize a ready to go at any moment "home defense" arsenal consisting of a shotgun, couple pistols, a rifle, and an AR15? (pick one)
Because they can.
Because the MONGOL hordes are about ready to descend upon them at any moment.

I'm not arguing peoples right to own it. I'm question the "Sport Purposes" exemption. It just reaffirms my believe that the ATF has no idea what they are doing and are just winging it.
I'd shoot it. Looks like fun to me. I'd also like to have a Barrett.
I just like loud booms. Probably why I used to build fireworks too.

Not to flounder the thread, but I think there are some powerful lobbying bodies that are pushing and pulling them in opposite directions. They're so confused they don't know exactly what to do.
