I'm sure I'm late to the party on this but after using the default Android browser for like 4 months I got sick of it crashing lately. I downloaded Dolphin on recomendation and it is awesome.
That is all just thought I would give the heads up.
Any other apps I simply must have that will make my life complete?
For boredom busters, I play Stair Dismount and Jeg's practice tree apps.
I still use the default browser, but I loaded Opera JIC.

I just recently (over the weekend) downloaded the Go Launcher. This is related to Dolphin but what it does is change the look of the main pages, sort of like a skin or theme. It is interesting and I have been playing with it.
For Go Launcher I have loaded not only the default theme but also the Classic Theme and the Sensation Theme.
I am not sure if I will keep these but it is something to play with.
Everything I loaded was free. A year plus into it and I have yet to pay for any Android ap.
I tried Dolphin, but found Opera easier for me to operate. Probably a Pepsi/Coke like thing.
For texting I have GO SMS Pro. I really like the way you can rotate the box between conventional inbox mode and thread mode.
App2SD lets me easily move things to my SD card. I can do the exact same thing manually through the phones system, but this makes it a lot easier.
Juice Defender works well at helping you to manage your battery life. Without it, I can't go a whole day without a recharge. With it, I can sometimes go a day and half.
Swiss Army Knife contains a bunch of the semi-silly/useful things in one app. Flashlight, level, compass, timer, ruler, stopwatch and calculator.
I used Firefox, but it hoggs RAM. Back to the regular browser, I do use go launcher. Love it.
Honestly root then install a custom rom with superuser included if you are having battery issues. The life on my phone was so bad with heavy useage that it would need to be recharged every 5 hours.
I'm running 2.3 now and get 15+ hours out of it on edge(spotty 3g out here) and pretty heavy usage. 3 weeks on airplane mode.
As far as killing tasks to save battery I use Advanced Task Killer. I just have the widget sitting on my main page that I can hit everytime I unlock the phone. I think its automatically set to kill background tasks anytime the screen goes off and the phone locks.
I havent played around with browers much, I always just use the preloaded one and havent had issues.
For a launcher (like the Go Launcher mentioned above) I use Zeam Launcher. Its basic, simple, and uncluttered, and does not take up a lot of memory. Its just customizable enough for my liking. Its laid out similar to ADW Launcher that I was previously using on my last phone. I havent tried Go Launcher yet.
For an overall utility to explore the contents on your phone, I have ES File Explorer. Think of it like windows explorer. I use it to access files that I have loaded on the phone with my USB cable, say, a PDF file or something.
If you play Forza Motorsport, theres an app called Forza Droid. Input a little data about a car you are building, and it spits out a tuning setup for your car. I havent used it with Forza 4, but I used it with Forza 3 a lot (it was really made for Forza 3). If anything it gives you a decent starting point for getting your car set up.
Air Control (you can get a free version) is a super addicting, time killing game. Its been out for years but still probably my favorite.

PDAnet allows you to tether you droid to a computer to give it internet without paying for that functionality from your service provider. You'll still have to pay for the data if your plan is setup for that. If you pay for the upgraded version you can log on to https websites or something like that; I've only used the lite version.
^^^ thats a good one too
I think it just limits your connection to "https" sites in the free version. Usually they dont work. There have been a few times that I logged onto one and forgot that it wasnt going to work....but then it did, but very slowly.
