Back in the day 7-up was "Lithiated for your quick pick-me-up" or some such, apparently right up to the 50's. Cuz who doesn't want psychotropic antidepressants in their soda pop? I dare not speculate what the original ingredients in Dr Pepper were.

I think OHSCrifle meant "High Fructose Corn Syrup" rather than non fructose. I guarantee non fructose corn syrup isn't killing anyone.

This is one that I really want to see some good studies on, though I can't think of a good way to set it up. Because even accounting for population differences (small amount of people on opioids compared to those that are on HFCS), I feel like the answer is somehow yes.
